New to Cavendish I naturally consulted TA for restaurant recs. Slim pickings in this neck of PEI, but this is touted as the best. It is seasonal, open only June to late September like most joints on the island outside CTowne, Summerside and Kensington. You may have to wait, but at 8:30 a Wednesday night we had no problem. Simple decor, playing on the wreck of the Marco Polo, food is pretty basic but well prepared. The missus and I started with the crab cakes - quite delicious but with an over cooked coating, served with a tangy sauce. She then had the seared scallops. Now, these were outstanding but not abundant, and very buttery, served with delicious side veggies. I went with the lobster roll, with butter and not mayonnaise. Good choice with generous lemon on top. The fish was delicious. But, lobster isn’t lobster when served like a hot dog in my view. Better to stick to a full lobster meal. It’s a matter of choice, not taste. The side of fries were served hot and really good, and the small slaw was tangy (I put it in the lobster dog). Very good service by Kelsee. With two pints PEI beacon blonde, $124 before tip.

We started with PEI mussels, which were excellent and plentiful. We split this appetizer between 3 people and it was more than enough! Next was seared local scallops, served with fresh roasted seasonal veggies and garlic mash. Nice portions for the price and fantastic taste. Would definitely recommend checking it out if you're visiting the area.

We revisited The Lost Anchor and we weren’t disappointed!!
The wife ordered the Burrito bowl, I went out of my comfort zone and ordered the Lobster Roll, based off of another customer’s picture on Trip Advisor – two kids ordered cheese burgers with some Shirley Temples.
The lobster roll was delicious! The wife LOVED the Burrito Bowl – she ate all of it and said, “I would lick this dish right now if I could!” Kids both ate the burgers and devoured the Shirley Temples. I chose the Lobster roll mixed with mayo – it arrived with plenty of lobster. The wife kept moaning about the burrito bowl and I broke down and snuck a bite…that thing was good! I’d probably make that my next dish.
Service was an experience we haven’t had in awhile – she was immediately there at all the right moments. As soon as the wife’s wine glass was empty, she stopped by to see if another was needed.

We read the reviews and chose this restaurant based on those reviews. Obviously they were having a bad night and/or were short staffed because there were people waiting and many tables still covered in food, plates etc. There was also food on the floor and flies everywhere. It was stuffy inside and I feel like the table was cleared quickly with a swipe of a dirty cloth. The food itself was good but not amazing like we had heard. They mixed up our two sandwich orders (wrong chicken on the wrong bun) The fries really were great. We also ordered a pitcher of Sangria that we did not finish. I don’t know what was in it exactly, but certainly hardly any wine. It just tasted like cheap fruit punch. The experience was ok but not spectacular.

Don’t miss this gem 💎 I was only going to pop in for a beer 🍺 Honestly I hadn’t been impressed with the food in the island so far on my trip and had low expectations. I love mussels and when I saw three different variations I couldn’t resist. I chose “lost anchor” mussels. Rosemary, bacon, truffle oil, yum! I received a huge bowl with fresh sprigs of rosemary, wide strips of bacon, that formed a creamy broth over tender mussels. I was in heaven and sopped up the remaining broth with bread.
Since the mussels were such a hit I had to find out what was for dessert. I love bread pudding, they had bread pudding and yes it was ridiculously good. I smiled the whole walk back to the inn. Don’t miss this delicious restaurant off the main road. They have a nice patio and deck too. Service was friendly and attentive, really lovely

We had a such great time at the Lost Anchor!!
Firstly, we were immediately greeted by 2 young hosts/ servers with huge smiles and made us feel very welcome.
The extensive menu was terrific. We had the spinach dip appetizer, lobster rolls with the summer salad and Tiramisu and Chocolate/ Nutella brownie for dessert. All the food was delicious and generous
portions. The salad and lobster rolls were amazing. Lots of lobster on a fresh roll and the salad had lots of fresh berries and a homemade dressing that I loved. The desserts were excellent and beautifully presented. Others in our group had the fish tacos, dish and chips and they raved about these dishes as well.
Our server was awesome. She was attentive and gave thoughtful suggestions about menu options. We wanted to remember this special meal and she happily took the time to take our photo.
The atmosphere is bright, beachy, and fun! We Loved the story of the historic “Lost Anchor” on the wall and the actual Anchor on display.
Will definitely go back. I hear the sunsets are amazing from the deck and want to try the burger which I hear is to die for. Thank you Lost Anchor for a truly special time!!

Mussels were fresh and portion was generous. I asked if a side salad could be substituted for fries with my entre and was told yes. I always ask if a salad is possible and have NEVER not been told when there was an extra charge. When the bill came, the waiter said he "forgot" to tell me there was a $5 charge for the substitution. I would NEVER have paid that much and would have just gone with the entre without the side. But, thinking I am a tourist what would he care? I am not a tourist but given the restaurant's location, tourists would be the primary clientele. As a regular consumer of a variety of salads at PEI restaurants, I definitely recommend giving their arugala salad miss. I am only relieved that at the last minute I decided on another selection as my main meal, not this salad. My husband and I found the entres fine but nothing special. Stick with the mussels.

Recomended by hotel and we sure were happy they did. Everyone there was so friendly and involved especially our server Denise. Both my wife and I had delicious lobster roll served with huge portion of fresh garlic mashed and I had potato salad which happened to be the best I ever had. Prices were ultra reasonable.

We came Sunday the 2nd and July - -4 of us and got seated inside right away. The hostess told us that our meal would be served in 30-45 mins. We agreed to wait. 90 minutes later our meal was served. Its a good thing that we were in no hurry. The chowder, crab cake, lobster mac (yummy) and fish and chips were very very good.

My family, joined by close family friends dined on Canada Day before the fireworks. Our Server Alexa, was excellent - attentive and friendly. Great menu with lots of options, and important to us - a wonderful variety on the kids menus.
I had the steak sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. Maybe the best I've had! My son raved about the fish and chips as did my husband which is quite a feat as he is British with high standards ! Large portions and very well cooked.
Great selection of drinks, I was driving so I had a diet pepsi - I love that they bring you a can and a glass of ice, a personal preference over fountain drinks.
The restaurant was very very busy, but our wait time was minimal to receive our meals.
We will be back this summer. Thank you for your hospitality :)

Very hot day. Do you have AC? Yes. However was seated at a window with partial blind. In room air conditioner above reading 87F/31C, very hot, little ventilation. Fish was dry, not worth the expense compared to other local restaurants.

Check out our friends’ Denise Fleming and Bill Fleming’s newest venture, The Lost Anchor in Cavendish.
We had a wonderful lunch with friends at The Lost Anchor. Everything about the visit was great. The staff was friendly and attentive , even took group pictures for us.
The menu was varied with choices to suit any taste. I ordered fish and chips and had enough fish to share with others. Friends reported that the salad was excellent with a house made dressing. We shared 2 desserts that were tasty and large enough for all 6 of us to have a few bites. Prices were very good and the portions were generous, great value. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
The dining room is bright, cheery with just the right amount of seaside decor. The bathrooms are clean, bright and spacious.
Best wishes Denise,Bill and staff for a successful season. We will be back for some snacks and sunset cocktails for the best patio view in Cavendish.

We had a great experience at The Lost Anchor. Ryan welcomed us to the restaurant and was quick and creative in setting up seating to accommodate 10 of us. Denise and Jen catered to our kid's needs with menu's, crayons and drinks, then took great care of us! The food and service was excellent! Thanks!!

My family and some friends stopped in here on our recent vacation to the east coast from Ontario. The staff was very friendly and accomodating our party of 7. The food was great! (highly recommend the fish tacos). It was so good that we made a point of letting the manager and owner know how much we loved it.
