We stopped at this restaurant as really a desperate attempt to find a reasonable place to have a sit down lunch on our way through Bonaventure. We had been to 2 other local restaurants, neither of which were open for lunch. We did go to one other popular spot in the area, directly beside their marina, where we found only 3 or 4 overpriced items on the menu (we were extremely disappointed). We then proceeded to search online and saw that this place had very good reviews and decided to try our luck there. When we arrived and seen the sign on the front door that their indoor dining was closed and it was takeout only we were about to give up all hope about finding a place to have a nice meal. Luckily Sylvain, the owner, saw us outside and decided to welcome us in. He explained that he just had a cancellation and would be more than happy to serve us his creations. He explained his type of cooking and a brief history of his establishment. He immediately put us at ease and made us feel special and almost like a visiting family member. After some thought two of us ordered the cod dish and one the salmon. We also ordered a local beer he had in house and a great glass of white wine. The food was so delightful that we forgot to take a picture. It I had to describe it in a few words I would say "simple fresh elegance". It left us fullfilled yet not stuffed. All in all we want to thank Sylvain for a wonderful experience and for the great hospitality. Many other restaurants in the area should take notes...

They had just opened for the day and we were the first ones there. The owner was quite friendly. He went over the house specialities and I wish we could have tried a few more dishes. My wife had a sandwich and I had the cod, which was almost melt-in-your-mouth tender and fresh. They have a few local beers in bottles, as well as a nice selection of wine. Several people stopped in to have a light lunch, coffee, and to buy fish and meats, which were for sale over the counter.

We had the salmon and halibut filet, it was excellent and the prices were really low for the quality. The coffee was also top notch and the owner a charm. I think I can easily say it was my favorite restaurant in Gaspésie.

This place gets a +1 for the experience, the atmosphere, attention to detail, and innovation. At its core, Jack Crusoë is a wilderness outfitter, specializing in sous-vide for the kayaking crowd. At its core, Jack Crusoë is a steampunk bistro, reminiscent of Hemingway. At its core, Jack Crusoë is a laid back resto-bar with great food and wine, where you can while away an afternoon. It's hard to classify Jack Crusoë, so let's tell the story. The owner has a long history of making sous-vide packages for his own white water pleasure. After all, why buy generic boil-in-a-bag food when you can express the local terroir using the same technology? The day came when he decided to leave the city behind and develop his hobby into a business. Where better to do this than on one of the most beautiful rivers in the world? So he bought a place in Bonaventure and lovingly restored it with a steampunk esthetic. From this base, Jack Crusoë offers boil-in-a-bag/sous-vide gourmet food made with local meats and produce that you can re-heat at your campsite. If you're looking for a sit-down meal, the interior offers a bar and a some bistro tables. The tables and bars are handmade, using wood reclaimed during the renovations. Each plank in the building has been restored with love by the owner's own hands. The kitchen is constantly producing vast quantities of terrines, individual take out meals, cornish hens, salsas, jellies, dips, or whatever the chef's creation of the day is. It's experimental, with a classic French Bistrot flair. It's much more than just a restaurant, it's an experience. Jack Crusoë is worth the detour from the main road, and it's a great place to stock up on meals for the week, or for your kayaking trip. Enjoy!

A new concept mostly aimed at take out meals, sealed and ready to eat in 10 minutes just about anywhere you can make a fire. The food is remarkably delicious nonetheless, their ribs with their exclusive sauce is fabulous! And the paté, wow!

Small restaurant where you are welcomed as if you were family. “Jack” welcomes his guests with kindness and takes the time to chat and joke. He is receptive to the dietary restrictions of people with allergies. The dishes he offers are excellent. We enjoyed tender and tasty salmon, washed down with an excellent Sancerre. A really pleasant stopover on our journey between Percé and Tracadie. It is better to book as the number of places is limited.

Great atmosphere, friendly and authentic welcome. And the dish (barbe with mashed potatoes and coleslaw) was magnificent! Thank you Sylvain!

The owner is the most friendly and helpful I have ever seen in a bistro, the service was impeccable, the flexibility and the welcome was wonderful. We loved the presentation of the dishes and even more the tasting which let our taste buds discover more than we could imagine. These are by far the best dishes I have tasted in a very, very long time. I would come back with my eyes closed at each of my visits, it has become an obligatory stop. Excited to see you again Hilary and Amelie

Pleasant owner, succulent cod. We highly recommend this place. There are only a few places, it would be good to reserve
