Whenever we are in Charlevoix, we make sure we dine at Vices Versa. It is usually the highlight of our culinary experiences in the region and this time was no exception. The combination of flavors and quality of ingredients were awesome, the service warm and...efficient and the atmosphere peaceful and conducive to savoring Danielle's and Eric's beautifully prepared dishes. We both had the Atlantic Halibut with Bacon Risotto, Melting Fennel and Crunchy Tarragon Sauce and we agreed this was one of the most delicious fish dishes we have ever experienced. The other dishes we had were all excellent. The wine list is not extensive, but thoughtful - we had a Hautes-Cotes de Nuits that was a great accompaniment to our dishes and was fairly priced for the quality. We can't imagine a visit to the region without a dinner at Vices Versa.More

This is in someways a unique dining experience where a husband and wife team with their own kitchen space within same restaurant provide a different take on the basic predominant. ingredient - in fact traditional french versus a more modern quebecois new world cuisine. It...is a modern interior design with a limited tables open three evenings. The desserts in most Canadian restaurants, are generally very rich with the use of caramel, maple and honey sauces, rich creams and the dreaded sugar laden white chocolate with little finesse like european french patisserie. It was pretty much the case here and we declined as it was also additional to rather expensive CAN$88 taxes not included two course menu. It was also stated you could not request any modifications to the menu in terms of your personal dietary requirements or the method of cooking.Unfortunately arctic char was firm and dry instead of tender and moist and this is not the way to cook fish and you would not expect this in any fine dining establishment The hot and cold foie gras dishes we had were quality but somewhat nude in their presentation - little creativity and presentationMore

This was a unique experience. The dining area was intimate. Only a limited number of tables are available each day. The food preparation was excellent. You choose two dinners for a fixed price. Each chef prepares the entree differently. You may choose both dinners from...the same chef or one from each. We had scallops from both sides of the menu and Arctic Char and Quail. All were delicious. The chefs were visible while preparing our meals. It is suggested you allow two hours to fully enjoy the dining experience. We were very glad we tried this restaurant. We recommend it.More

One night of amazing food and service. Loved the ambiance of the place and being able to taste courses off the menu prepared by both chefs. My husband and I ordered off each side of the menu and shared each in order to try the...same course but cooked differently, which I would recommend. Would definitely go again.More

Loved the food but I don’t understand why we must pay 86$ for 2 meals per person! We were three. Two adults( tiny women) and a teen. I normally don’t eat much, I had to order two meals from the menu!! I was already full...after the “ mise en bouche”. So was my mom. Only one meal would have been more than enough. Tourist trap. Pass!More

On the final night of our Montreal/QC/La Malbaie vacation, we had a very wonderful meal at Vices Versa. It was our best meal of many great ones on our trip; and one of the best I have had anywhere. Amazing food and beautifully presented.

On our last night in La Malbaie, we had the good fortune of dining at one of the best restaurants in the Charlevoix region of Quebec. Two excellent chefs, Husband and Wife have "carved out" a culinary niche of excellence. If you plan to visit...La Malbaie, this restaurant should be a top priority. Vices Versa has mainly a Prix Fixe menu or now a days, a table d'hôte menu meaning you get to choose from a multi-course menu for a fixed price. You can choose a 2 or 3 course for $62/$72. Wine is not included. Pricey, yeah! But, I didn't mind the idea that the chefs are narrowing the selection from an ala carte menu, as you will see the chefs dishes were excellent, still giving you several different choices. What is so interesting about the meals and the menu is a side by side presentation of both Husband and Wife chefs version of how they will cook the meal. It's up to us to decide which course you prefer. For instance, Vices (Husband) will do Seared Scallops with Oat Risotto with mussels and Chervil cream sauce. Versa (Wife's) version would do same with Ravioli with roasted peppers, Parmesan Cream with caramelized tomatoes. We had hard time choosing. We decided to try each one and..that way we could taste and share! We paired a local bottle of wine, with the help of our waitress, a 2017 sparkling white, Le Blanc Brut. With continue with our second course of Sauteed Sweetbreads and Leg of Lamb. We finish with our Dessert and coffee included in the prix fixe meal. One of the best dinners we have had in 2019!More

This menu allows you to try dishes two ways. The husband cooks what is on one side of the menu, the wife cooks what is on the other side. And the results are fabulous. The food could not have been more delicious, creative, well presented....And the service was some of the friendliest we have seen, especially since the waitress is related to the chefs. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who loves fine dining. Our only regret is that they were closed the next night, so we could not return for another meal. By far the best food we ate while in Quebec.More

This is a fine dining restaurant run by two married chefs with different skills, tastes and interests. When you eat here, expect to relax and enjoy the courses over about two hours. The menu is "table-d'hote". Each course is akin to a performance served one...of two ways. The diner gets to choose which one. Often the same item like veal, is prepared two different ways depending on which chef's version you select; Vice or Versa, his or hers. The food and service is excellent. It is a quiet dining room because frankly, the conversation is with the diner and the food, as it were. It is a great, un-rushed atmosphere to enjoy excellent food and intimate conversation. This is a great place to eat to see what a master chef can do. More than once you will probably say, "That's delicious. I would never have thought of that."More

We stayed at Fairmont manor Richelieu and had dinner at their main restaurant. Then we had dinner at Auberge 3 Canards, Chez Truchon and of course Vices Versa Restaurant. My wife had 1) Seared scallops from iles de la Madeleine, Risotto made of oats from Fraserville, mussels,...fennel and chervil cream sauce 2) Atlantic halibut, risotto with fresh mozzarella, carmalized tomatoes beurre blanc sauce with basil. Now its my turn, I had Rack of Lamb from Charlevoix . In addition we had bottle of wine, desset an coffee. As a retired couple who likes to travel on many trips to Italy and France. Vices Versa brought memories of the wonderful food served in Michelin star Restaurants.Added note: for breakfast and lunch try Pains d'exclamation bakery . To conclude, we congratulate and thank both chefs.More

I was intrigued by the idea of two chefs preparing the same food in different ways at a fixed price for two or three courses. The food and presentation was very good but I found the portion sizes a bit small for the price

The menu here is excellent and very. Or shrooms are just right, which allows you to choose multiple courses with out feeling like you over ate. The innovative menu provides two versions of each type of food, thus the reason for the name of the...restaurant Vice Versa. I especially enjoyed the scallops course. Make sure you leave room for dessert, which are also delicious.More
