I ate at this restaurant twice. It was surprisingly delicious. Apparently all the chefs in town started at Malarrimo. It's pricey for the area, though not so much for Americans. The fish was fresh and delicious. I love the ceviche. Breakfast was good. Rushed because...More

Michael...Just took our Whale Watch trip to Guerrero Negro (GN) on Feb 9th 2018...Left on Thurs and spent the weekend at Malarrimo, the best place for lodging & tours. It closes at 10 pm. I would not plan on a straight drive from OC as night driving is not recommended. Suggest you stay at San Quintin getting you there from OC in the afternoon. Stay at the Old Mill Hotel and their Eucalypti Restaurant is excellent. Next day, Gas up in SQ, as there are no gas stations after Rosario. Roads 1 hour prior and after Catavina is about 4-5 hrs from SQ...are full of deep pot holes..need to avoid, as much as possible. You will understand, as you drive thru the "graveyard highway of discarded tires" by being careful driving under 40 mph in some places. Get temp visa at the TJ border, stay on the right side where it say "declaring, park and go to a separate Visa office:should not take more than 1/2 hour. There are several military check points to & from GN but with no real delays. Suggest you book in advance the SQ hotel and Malarrimo hotel and their whale tour in advance. We enjoy 2 whale watch tours, 8am and 12 noon. On our way back, we stayed at the Hotel Mision in Catavina. Heard that the town is building a Pemex Station across the Hotel; should be up by the time you go in Feb 2019...and hopefully the pot holes will also be repaired! We are planning to go back, sometime in early March. Good luck with your trip.
