We went to lunch with friends at Manix. The service was efficient, swift and very pleasant. Their food was absolutely great. I started with a small salad and enjoyed the dressing and variety of ingredients. Main course was brisket, mashed potatoes, gravy and mixed vegetables. Delicious! Dessert was a chocolate mouse, the best I have ever had at any restaurant... More

Not sure about the regular dinner menu but we just had a Valentines Dinner at Manix. The upstairs dining room was filled so we sat downstairs which was fine. The staff was very attentive and the room looked beautiful. Three choices for dinner: salmon Thermador, chicken with a mustard sauce and a shrimp dish. We had one salmon and one... More

Our visit on Valentine's Day 2017 for dinner was exquisite. A four course fixed menu was in place (appetizer, Mexican Flag Salad, 3 choices for entrees, dessert). The Mexican ambience was fabulous with only a few touches here and there to celebrate Valentine's Day. I had the stuffed chicken for an entree while my wife had the shrimp. Excellent all... More

We were here for New Year's Eve and it was a great time. But being a special evening, didn't think it made sense to review. So we went back. Filet mignon Manix was unbelievable. Tender and so very tasty. The sauce was exquisite and the potato was delicious. The singer had a beautiful voice and enhanced the evening. Go.

Large room but not overcrowded with tables. Baskets of fresh flowers, candlesticks and charger plates on tables despite casual atmosphere. Husband had the daily special, a fish florentine dish, and I had the pork ribs. Our orders came with either zucchini soup or side salad and we opted for the soup, which was quite pleasant. The side dishes on the... More

We had dinner at Manix the other night – it's two blocks west from the Colon on Ocampo, but well worth the five-minute stroll. Another great meal -- some in our group had the buffet (mmmm... pork tenderloin and fish) and a couple of us ordered from the regular dinner menu. The place was really busy -- the upstairs level... Even though the restaurant is considered one of the oldest restaurants in Ajijic, and owned by two generations of Mexicans (mother, then son), it is not Mexican if you are looking for Mexican food. Manix focuses on pleasing American and Canadian residents, as well as visitors, with north of the border comfort food. The owner and staff are welcoming and... More

We visited the cafe around midday on a weekday and we were the only people there. I believe a lot of the Canadians go to the restaurant but we didn't meet any this day. The meals were disappointing and we decided not to go back.
