When David is in the kitchen this little restaurant can be quite good, but when he's not there to oversea preparation it's quite ordinary. Good kitchen help is hard to find, but consistency is important in any restaurant - it's not at this one.

Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff and chef. For me the fish was undercooked for Mahi Mahi and the sides were tiny (¼ cup). Bread was awesome. Had to ask for water and the check and it was very slow when we were there. The busboy(?) was...More

Excellent food. But a very nasty attitude of the owner with his personnel. He yelled at them and everybody listened this. It's a shame.

Tabarka has a varied menu, but is well known for their seafood and fish. It also has good vegetarian choices. I also found a new favorite wine there and love it with a delicious tapas meal.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner here last night. We started with a plate of 6 tapas and if we had not ordered entrees at the same time we would have ordered more tapas and called it dinner. Those tapas were outstanding, a riot of...More

This is a great little garden restaurant in central Ajijic. We were greeted by Chef David who explained the menu items and suggested the tapas so we could try many of the menu items. The menu is primarily made up of seafood and each of...More

We arrived at an off hour (around 3:00) thus we had the place virtually to ourselves. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, was good at explaining different dishes to my partner who does not speak Spanish. The menu had a wide variety of different foods,...More

Although the restaurant has moved to downtown Ajijic, the setting is still beautiful and open. David, the Chef and owner, is a guy who's really concerned about what he gets to cook, and knows about fish like an encyclopedia. He gets the best available fish...More

We tried this restaurant in its new location. Early in the evening it was quiet and we both had fish dishes which tasted fine. However, the next day we suffered from upset stomachs!

Tabarka is one of our go-to places for lunch or dinner. We particularly enjoy their tapas but their fish selections are also fabulous.

I'm not sure. But the tapas meal (10 or 12 dishes) is all of 180 pesos, and wine 50 or less. Pay with pesos, better for all. Best value in town.
