The new location is very handy. Greeted by the owner/chef personally. The setting is modest but it's the food that is the attraction. We've had pallea several places in Spain and this was as good or better. Half an hour wait but it's worth it as our order was individually prepared.

My wife and I had Dinner there the other night. We had the Chef's Special Tapas 12 Plates. Was only 10 took 2 hours and if these Tapas are a reflection of the rest of the menu we weren't impressed. i hate to knock a restaurant because I know they work hard but with the other available restaurants to compete... I agree with the previous reviewer- they need some serious re vamping of the menu and service. We had a reservation as we were warned how busy they were ( they were not). Service was mediocre at best. The waiter informed us that they were out of menu items as they had been so busy!!! Ok guys we made a... More

Years ago, our first visit to this chef was a 'wow' moment... excellent food, service, an innovative menu. Today, nearly 3.5 years later, Tabarka is in a new location... but -- everything else is static. A great menu that long ago is simply tired now... service is slow, and the sense that the chef and his dishes are 'cutting edge'... More

Don't let the casual environment throw you off; this is serious food preparation. With a specialty in seafood, the menu is mostly fish and shellfish....but they have meat as well as vegetarian options. We ordered sea bass and monkfish. Each entree comes with a choice of sauce (Curry, verdes, garlic, etc.) and 2 sides. The portions are generous and the... More

I gave Tabarka a very poor review after having two consecutive negative experiences last year. We had not been there since. Today I was there with a group. This was like old times when Tabarka was my favorite restaurant in Ajijic. The food was OUTSTANDING, and the service was very good (especially when you consider how crowded they were). Well... More

We had the most delightful dinner and evening at the new Tabarka on Ramon Corona. The tapas were fabulous. The garden setting is enchanting. But the two big bonus treats were the truly great jazz played by a saxophonist and watching the chef and his adorable children dancing together. It was a magical evening in Ajijic. Tabarka would be a... More

Delicious, fresh seafood... great location and a very beautiful, tranquil setting. The Chef is from Spain and his cooking style and flavors are the best I have experienced.

This is a wonderful restaurant for foodies. Their tapas "deal" is incredible. We always order the 12 course option and you have no idea what you'll get but it's always a pleasant surprise. My friend swears by the pallea but if you don't order ahead be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes. David makes it from scratch.
