I know most of the reviews here are generally good, but we did not have a great experience. The place was crowded, service was rushed and the food was just ok, compared to the other great meals we had in the area nearby. Like a tourist trap. Would not return, but the turtle watching out front was pretty sweet!

We are so sorry you didn't have a good experience with us! We do our best to get it right even during the busiest periods and I am sorry we fell short!
We do rely a lot on the Christmas New Year's period , as it's the busiest of the entire year, but we recognize it is hard to provide the same service we do the rest of the year.
We will take note and work on this and hope that you give us another chance!

I stumbled upon this restaurant while searching Akumal on Pinterest so I put it on my list of places to visit. Our first time was for dessert only, we had eaten lunch elsewhere. We had the brownie with ice cream and apple pie. So we decided to come back another evening for dinner. I had shrimp and my husband had the whole fish. It was delish! So when we returned to the area a month later bringing friends we brought them here for lunch. I can't remember what everyone had but it was scrumptious! The service was always perfect. And you simply cannot beat the incredible view of this bay and its gorgeous beach. I highly recommend eating here...as often as possible.

I would recommend this restaurant, because the views are so beautiful and being able to eat outside with sand between your toes, is always fantastic. There is also open-air dining that is on decking if you don’t like the sand. We found the service at the bar to be better than in the dining room and it situated so that you get a nice breeze. The quality of the breakfast items and dinner items are very good. The lunch menu is catering to a busy beach crowd, but still has a few hidden gems. We were sometimes told that they couldn’t take credit cards and we had to pay cash, we were often told that the tips couldn’t be left on the card and required cash, neither of these things are true, so hold your waiter accountable if they try this with you. It didn’t happen at the bar, which was one of the main reasons we ended up feeling more comfortable sitting there. If you love melty, cheesy stuff try the chili bowl at lunch time. Everything on the dinner menu is great but the wedge salad is a stand out. Whatever you have, you’ll be looking out at the beach and the bay. This is a launch pad for snorkeling and diving that people come from all over the world for.......it’s a pretty amazing place to have a meal.

Thank you for your review and comments. We are very concerned about staff members telling you we don't take credit cards and that tips cannot be left on the cards. In Mexico, the only difference is that you have to leave the tip amount before they run your card through. That's quite inconvenient for clients but can be done! The waiters have no business saying these things and we wish we knew which ones were saying this.
We have had a very stern talk with all of our wait staff about this and letting them know how damaging it is, since we might have been able to get a 5 star review instead of 4 due to this issue.

I live in Akumal and so I eat at Lolha a few times each month. I chose them for my birthday dinner celebration with friends and opted to have them curate a wine tasting pairing with small plates for our group of 10. Carlos has quite extensive knowledge of wines, especially those in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. His chefs are so creative with the dishes they choose to enhance the wine profiles. The staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. Truly a magical evening!

I arrived at this restaurant a day ahead of time and asked for a quote for six lobsters and was given the quote in writing of $176 US dollars… The next day we arrived for our reservation and explained and showed the quote and enjoyed our dinner which decent but not great… At the end of the dinner I was presented with a bill for over $450 US dollars… Lobster alone was $320 US dollars... at the same time as I was trying to take care of this bill six of the employees surrounded me and pressured me to pay the bill which I did only to keep the peace fearing for our safety. I would warn anyone from trusting this establishment… We are from Canada and will never return to this part of Akumal.

I am so sorry about this! Our menu price for lobster is $569 pesos so for 6 of them, the quote you were given was correct. I reviewed your bill, and it had the correct pricing for the lobster but you apparently also had a salmon salad, two fish and chips, chicken fajitas and guacamole. That takes the food bill to $250 USD. You did have some nice wines and that came to $161 USD. The total bill was $411 for 9 people at our exchange rate. Perhaps if you paid by credit card, the bank uses a different rate, because we charge in pesos. We always want our food to be great and to be worth what you pay for. Please, if you are ever back in Akumal, give us a chance to make this right for you. Private message us and we will arrange a coupon for you to use. I have let the kitchen know about this as well as the waiters who mistakenly made you feel pressured! Your safety was never at risk, and I am so sorry you felt that from them! They are well meaning but this will be addressed with them sternly. Again, I am very sorry and hope we can make it up to you at some time.

We always have a wonderful experience at Lol-Ha. It’s one of our favorites. We live in Akumal so we frequent it often. Great food and service. We have experienced many wine tastings with food pairings with Carlos Diaz. He is fantastic! Carlos is very knowledgeable about the wines he presents and always prepares a fabulous tasting experience for us. The chefs never disappoint with their perfect small plate pairings.

Fresh shrimp, grilled to perfection, with a view of the sea at sundown. A minute's walk from our room. Couldn't get any better. One dinner for 2, with wine, was $38 USD, another was $50. Once we both had shrimp, the other time 1 of us had the pibil pork--a Yucatan favorite.

Akumal Beach as a whole was a good experience while coming to Lol-Ha was a fairly decent experience on its own. The food was tasty, with everything coming out on time. The service coming from several of our waiters was alright as they didn't do anything wrong although they didn't seem very attentive or enthusiastic. It was slightly annoying that we had to pay separate extra fees for an umbrella, the bathrooms and the showers. The beach and gift shop nearby made it a slightly better experience, as we were able to do other things such as snorkeling with turtles.

Had the best Fajitas during our vacation in February 2022, spent the day in Alumal Bay and this was the perfect spot to have lunch, great view, good staff and of course the Coronas. Order the Guacamole it was so fresh and tasteful once we added a bit of lime juice. Price is not cheap for two with the exchange came to $70.00 Canadian, but hey your on vacation. Enjoy Amigos.

After a fantastic day, my wife and I went to Lol Ha for the sunset and dinner. What a sight and such a relaxing setting. Our server Tim was great very friendly, helpful, easy to chat with that added to our great time here. We've been here many times over the years and we love the beef nachos which are great and then we shared the steak fajitas which were excellent. My wife had a happy hour margarita and I had a Don Julio Reposado and tonic. reasonable prices, great food, spectacular scenery, life is good in Akumal.

Excellent, speedy service - thank you Sergio. Food fresh and delicious- the lime jalapeno grouper was super fresh and the veggies excellent and al dente and the chili relleno was light and tasty. All round great experience

We stayed at Hotel Akumal Caribe for 8 days. We ate here everyday and the food and service were excellent. The Octopus was one of the best I have had. Tacos Cochinata Pibil have a flavor you can only describe by tasting them yourself. If you just want a snack try the nachos el pastor. Oh yeah they a Margarita Reyes.

Stopped in after checking into our huge rental. Service was fast and friendly. My husband and I shared a cheeseburger, cooked medium rare, as requested. it cam with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and very hot grench fries. Our daughter had the vegan empanadas, which were three and very hot!!! We all had alcohol drinks. The location was great. William, our waiter, was fantastic!!!! We will return soon!!!

we had many great meals here as we stayed right next door. the service was always superb, you must try the prime rib {every Thurs. & Fri. night} the filet mignon was excellent, & the rib eye steak was cooked to perfection, some other must try's are the shrimp tacos, shrimp coctail, philly beef steak, chicken club sandwich,fresh salsa & chips. we enjoyed ourselves a great deal

After our exhausting 2-hour swim with sea turtles, and after having missed lunch, we were starving and stopped here, basically because it was the closet restaurant that looked nice and accommodating. We were seated quickly and our server was also quick to take our orders. The food was good and so was the service. Yes, the prices are a tad high, but you are in a tourist area and you should expect to pay higher prices than at your local Wendy's back home. The prices were still WAY better than in Tulum!
