Lovely setting but food lacking this time. Ordered a burger at this visit. Unfortunately it was poor. The bacon fat had not been cooked at all. There were no relishes or guerkins with the burger, so it was very bland. The lady serving didn't ask...More

Came here on sat evening with friends visiting us for a quick drink. Weather was nice so opted to sit out in the lovely beer garden. Lovely atmosphere, also pleasant inside too. Will be returning for food.

Turned up on a Thursday afternoon only to find the pub shut. Spoke to half a dozen or so other people who were hanging around whom were also wondering if it was opening. At just before 1pm, with still no sign of life, our group...More

This was an Underrated pub next to the canal. Best dining of our travels round the 4 counties canal ring. The menu is not extensive but the food they did was done to the best standard.

Was just passing through, víveres off M6 due to heavy traffic - so glad we stopped here rather than a motorway service station. Didn't have any expectations. Located beside a busy lock it's in a pretty setting if it's warm and the sun is out,...More

Friendly staff and excellent service. Food was absolutely excellent. Everything cooked fresh and no reheated rubbish, it's not fast food but it is worth the wait. Highly recommended.

Trying to find good food within walking distance of our cottage, this pub presented itself. It is clean and quaintly decorated in keeping with it's location. It also has outside seating by the canal. The food was tasty and well cooked to order. The Old...More

A traditional canal side watering hole, steeped in waterways culture and heritage. Boat shaped bar features no corporates but 6 local craft ales and 3 local craft lagers are made available alongside real ciders and perrys. The food is quite simply out of this world, locally sourced of course, contemporary interpretations of heritage cuisine using traditional methods. Chef Tom's fresh and loving preparation of all dishes reflects his passion for cooking and the satisfaction he gets from delivering more than is expected. Enjoy lively folk sessions in the bar and waterside entertainment in the summer, including the Middlewich Folk 'n' Boat Festival in June. Slow down, take a break and find a way to enjoy Dean's hospitality and The King's Lock Experience.
