Tried this pub for first time as we thought it would make a good day trip on our narrowboat but were disappointed by the atmosphere, service, food and prices. It felt like it was under new management who weren't quite sure what they were doing....More

Five of us called in for lunch during our canal cruise. After mooring and walking over the quaint hump back bridge, we decided to sit in the garden area by the canal-side. It is a very pretty spot and ideal for campers, passing canal traffic...More

The first impression is one of absolute beauty. Right on the canalside and a quaint little pub. But the place is more of a restaurant than a pub. The boys played pool but the barman was constantly looking as if he didn't trust them to...More

Have been to this pub before and went for mid-week lunch. After queuing up to order they suddenly said they weren't going to serve any more food. This was shortly before 2pm so well within their lunch time service. Fortunately, there are lots of other...More

menu available as print out when you get to Shady Oak. Need to ask for it tho. Food is lovely. Just need to work slightly harder than normal to find out what it is when you get there. well worth it.

The Shady Oak is a newly refurbished country free house under the ownership of a family business. The pub is situated on the side of the Shropshire Union Canal, with beautiful views of Beeston and Peckforton Castle from our large beer garden. We serve food daily, as well as a wide range of lagers, ciders, traditional ales, wines and tea and coffees. The Shady Oak also has a campsite on the grounds, with hardstanding pitches for caravans and many pitches for tents, with the option of electric hook up on every pitch as well as a well maintained shower block and washing facilities. In the pub, we allow dogs up in our 'top bar' to allow a separate area for those who may wish to drink/dine with their canine friends.
