During our week in Ennerdale this was our go to place for food and a beverage and it didn't disappoint. Welcoming friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. The food was amazing, especially the steak and ale pie and the lamb shank dishes. Dog friendly. Great place. Great food. Great staff. Thanks.

Took my sister for a long walk in the fells and came to The Shepherds for a late lunch. Chose the fish and chips and very nice they were too! Service was good and the bar's quite pleasant and serves food all day. The only negative point was that the bread and butter pudding was cold in the middle, although... More

My partner and I stopped here one Sunday for a roast. We got in quite late in the evening and there was only Beef available (we were later told that the pub is extremely popular at lunch time so all the other meats had probably been snaffled!) the beef was cooked perfectly, lovely gravy and a nice portion of veg.... Very lovely pub food with a good selection. Happy to accommodate after the burger was not fully cooked through. Agreed to swap the meal and did not charge for the burger or the replacement meal. A replacement meal of steak pie and chips was cooked perfectly. My son enjoyed the sausage and mash and the ice cream dessert.

Had been before for a meal which we enjoyed, and staff friendly. Next time we called a photographer was outside and informed us we could not park as he was taking photos. Limited parking, and my partner had a foot injury, so asked if any other parking near to pub available, declined to move until answered. Photographer went in pub... More

This is the best restaurant in this small town. The food was very good and so was the service. My steak was perfectly cooked and it was massive -- it was at least twice as big as I've ever seen. Service was very friendly and the room was quiet for a pub with low ceilings.

The Shepard’s Arms was a very welcome stop at the end of our first day on the Wainwright Coast-to-Coast trail. Four hungry trekkers enjoyed both the atmosphere of this traditional English pub and a menu that went far beyond the normal pub fare. The lobster and prawn linguini was delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting - boots and dogs... More

A very quaint and traditional bar, serving great food and a wide range of local ale! A welcome place after a long walk with a real fire. Hospitality second to none. You won't be disappointed

We called into the Shepherds Arms when we arrived into Ennerdale Bridge after walking from St Bees. First stop on the Coast to Coast. We were soAking wet but that didn't deter the lady behind the bar welcoming us and taking our wet weather gear and hanging in their drying room till we were ready to leave. We booked a... More
