We had an excellent meal at The Shepherd's Arms. We both ordered from the Specials Menu - I had lobster tagliatelle and my partner had duck. I also had a Baileys cheesecake for dessert which was also excellent. Highly recommended.

Country pub with typical pub menu - the gravy on the lamb shanks was rather over-flavoured, overwhelming the taste of the meat. They were clearly accommodating a lot of walkers, and the place was very busy.

This is a great hotel - clean, well maintained and very comfortable, with a very good restaurant/bar. The food was well cooked and had a choice of local dishes. Breakfast was exceptional, especially the porridge. I wholeheartedly recommend it and hope to stay again
Ate well while walking the Coast to Coast. A range of ales available plus lagers and very nice rather better quality pub food. Fish dishes were a standout.
You can be guaranteed an excellent meal At The Shepherds Arms. We eat there about twice a month. Really fresh local ingredients, cooked fresh every day. The team of two chefs work very hard to satisfy our taste buds. There's always a varied selection of...More
We have enjoyed Sunday lunch here twice recently. The roast beef just melts in your mouth and the proper homemade Yorkshire pudding is really fluffy inside. The vegetables which are served separately are cooked to perfection. We look forward to returning soon.
