In the past we have very much enjoyed having meals at the Black Cock with it's Olde Worlde charm. We have celebrated many a birthday and Christmas work celebration there, however, we have not visited for a while. I know that a while ago, the...More

Called in at the Black Cock to see if friends were in and have a meal, the place was quiet but we waited and waited for ages for someone to turn up a head popped around a corner and said they would be with us...More

Popped in here after reading other reviews on TripAdvisor, we weren't disappointed. We were surprised how busy it was for a Sun evening, which is always a good sign. We were seated quickly, order taken and food arrived swiftly. The food was really tasty and...More

This pub is a gem, has a really traditional feel, we couldnt get a table to eat here which is a good sign it must be busy, but stayed for a few drinks. There is one slight glitch...the landlords...they need to buck up their attitiude...More

Low ceilings, fires, good food and beer. We all greatly enjoyed our meals from a wide-ranging menu. Portion sizes are geared for serious mountain walkers - I couldn't finish my huge plate of Cumberland sausage and mash which was served with the most delicious onion...More

An unexpected gem. Found by accident when very hungry on a Sunday lunchtime. We both had steak and ale pie with chips. Very tender steak and full of flavour. Very tasty and good value

Hot food but served on cold plates! The chips were good and the 'barrelled' steak was very tasty. The cod goujons were not available but large fish was. This was disappointing, the batter was very greasy, the fish itself was quite thin and the paper...More

We were thinking off walking in the area while the older kids use the park. IS it quiete around the area or do the airplanes take off over the adventure park ? Thanks !

Are you sure you have the right place? There is a park with swings, slides, roundabouts etc for children (not what I would call an 'adventure park' as such.) And there certainly are no planes taking off for miles.
