Wow food was amazing we all had different meals every one was to a high standard. Food is a bit higher than our usual price range but the food can not compare you get what you pay for. I have no hesitation in going again...when in the area. Staff was friendly well worth the visit. If you can't afford the prices i would recommend saving up for the special occasion.More

Read some reviews which said portions were small, but we were all struggling to finish our meal. Food was well paired together on the plate, well presented & tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend, unless you like cheap frozen food, then would say go somewhere else.

OMG!! It’s our second time and won’t be our last!! I meant to write a review after our first time and totally forgot.. better late than never. Today we went with my mother and father in law for Sunday dinner. We arrived dot on 12.....was prepared to wait as our table was only booked from 12.15… but we were welcomed in and settled down to browse the menu. Now last time I had lamb and it was absolutely melt in the mouth… my father in law had this today and he said the same (and also that it was the best lamb he had ever had).. I went for the beef and ale pie (on a sunny day… ‘I know’) but after my husband had raved about it so much after the last time we went.. I couldn’t not try it. I can honestly say it is something special.. so will be having that again!! Will we be back? Within a heartbeat.. next time we are in Cartmel we will be definitely be treating ourselves to this taste bud heaven. Added notes: they accept dogs.. Have an amazing beer garden.. Staff are lovely Many thanksMore

Really good choice of food, great value for money and expertly cooked. Stayed at the B&B and glad we ate here. Veggie breakfast was really super!

Visited for a family Sunday lunch on the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. Previous reviews had led us to expect good quality good value fare with good service and we were not disappointed. We began with all the nibbles to share rather than having more traditional...individual starters - this was a nice way of trying everything - and all were delicious. We then had roast pork, lamb and beef dinners. These were plentifully sized and very tasty, including lots of different vegetables. Two of us finished off with home made ice cream and a delicious lemon posset and the rest of us had coffees with home made fudge. Other menu choices looked interesting for another day. Service was efficient and friendly. All in all a reasonable price for a decent meal! Cartmel itself is worth a visit. We hope to return!More

We went to the ancient and character -full Cavendish Arms for lunch, four adults and two young children. While the children’s meals were a bit disappointing, the adult food was really superb – quality ingredients, expertly cooked, full of flavour and served by very friendly...staff - and at a reasonable price. In fact, our lunch there was far better than the expensive dinners we’ve been having in highly rated restaurants in the five star hotel where we are staying.More

Haven’t visited for a while but one of our local favourites. The food was absolutely outstanding I opted for the cod and I do t think I’ve ever enjoyed a meal so much. That said the portions are smallish so the desert was definitely needed...and the homemade sticky toffee did not disappoint.More

We’ve been frequent and loyal customers for over eight years now but probably no more. We’ve always thought the wine selection was pretty poor but put up with it because we always enjoyed the food. Tonight I was shocked as the portion of the meat...pie was less than half it was over just a year ago and the price is now £22, probably the highest price in the south lakes. To boot the meat was far less tender than previously experienced.More

Nice traditional pub with a good choice of beers etc Service was very efficient. Top end price menu for the offerings and sadly, the quality didn't justify the price.
