The chips are awesome, better than any seaside chips I've ever had. Lovely staff, very accommodating with items chopping, changing and adding too.

Had lunch twice while we were on our second honey moon walking the lakes. Lovely food and service. Log burning fire was a lovely, welcoming sight and atmosphere after a hard walk along the Esk Trail.

We didn't eat here, just called in for a couple of pints after walking down Muncaster Fell. Nice to see a range of beers from the very local Boot Brewery as well as other real ales. Disappointing to see very few people in the pub on a perfect Spring Sunday lunchtime, maybe they were all out enjoying the fells in... More

We had just walked four miles when we arrived at the George IV Inn for lunch. We were hungry and in need of a satisfying meal. It is a traditional pub but is in need a bit of updating. The chair fabrics and armrests are getting tired and faded. The outside seating area is worn picnic tables sitting on concrete.... More

This is a REAL Lakeland pub in every sense. Great real ales and the best real chips ever ..served by real genuine people. Unfussy decor but warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean bedroom with very welcome bath. Amazing breakfast...didn't eat again that day! We'll be back! Xx

Stumbled upon this place having been left stranded at Dalegarth Station. Bar tender was helpful as he rang a taxi for us and established a price. Thanks Mr Bar Tender x

I met up with family recently at The King George IV for lunch and we had a great afternoon. The staff are fantastic and the food was lovely. Lovely log fire in the bar was very welcoming. Would highly recommend.

Traditional low beams stone flagged floors, good selection of local beers. Friendly staff serving good sized portions of tasty food including home made burgers & lasagne. Good place to eat after a walk in the beautiful Eskdale valley.
