Lovely stay. Made welcome by Andy from the minute we arrived in the car park and his hospitality never wavered throughout our four day stay. Our room was lovely overlooking the beautiful church with the wonderful chiming bells. We ate in the restaurant and dinner...was great . Service is extremely pleasant. Laura always looking after Harry our dog with treats. The bells on the tables for service are a great idea means you never have to wait although we hated pressing it as we felt like we were clicking our fingers and summoning service but Andy assured us that the staff like them. Highly recommend.More

Visited for lunch. There where plenty of spaces in its own private carpark. I got in no problem with disability powerchair. From the Covid point The place was immaculate! Easy check in with track and trace as well as parents using paper check in. There...were plenty points for hand sanitisation. The tables were tagged as covid clean. Toilets were immaculate too. We were served throughout by Laura. She was fast to serve drinks, so very helpful and friendly. My Dad is always cracking jokes and having a laugh, she was brilliant with him, very friendly and helping us with where to go after. Laura took our food orders quickly. It all came quickly, together and cooked fresh. The menu wasn't huge but large enough to have something for everyone. I would definitely recommend the place for something to eat especially when served by Laura.More

Only booked a one night stay this week on a whim because I wanted to stay somewhere nearby to Arnside for a night before moving on to Blackpool the night after. The deal decent, a 4* Twin Room with breakfast for £102. The staff here...are amazing. Literally amazing. Positive attitudes all the way, polite, attentive, warm and enthusiastic... and it's genuine - these girls are natural hosts. Check in was easy, literally guided upstairs, oriented with regards to security and breakfast and then just left to our own devices. The room was tastefully decorated. An appropriate mix of modern and vintage furnishings in keeping with the scenery. Leaded windows open with ease to let the air in, and the bathroom was clean with the expected toiletries. Tea tray well stocked. Overall pretty much perfect on the cleanliness level!.. especially the stunning bathroom. The only negatives are that the room is very, very hot with the window all the way open and heating off... perhaps fans would be a welcome addition, and the beds sort of roll around at will when you get on them or catch with your leg, slightly irritating I must admit. Breakfast is well-organised, you simply drop an order slip at the bar the night before with your chosen time of arrival and the staff have it ready for you when you come down down for it. Served red hot and high quality. Overall, highly recommended. The price is a little steep on the surface, but when you consider you are in a beautiful, quiet Cumbrian village with virtually no noise, virtually no sounds of traffic and the beauty of the Kent Estuary only a short drive away, you really do get what you pay for. As close to perfect as I could have ever hoped.More

We had the burger and fish and chips. The chips were excellent and the batter on the fish was very tasty. The burger was also very nice. And we appreciated the staff allowing us to get a order in despite the fact that we were...a bit late. Would definitely visit again!More

I stayed here for 3 nights with my boyfriend and we absolutely loved it! The staff were so friendly and helpful (special shout out to Laura!), the rooms were gorgeous and clean and the food was great. Was about a half hour drive to Windermere,...so a great combination of location and value for money. Would definitely stay again!More

A breath of fresh air. Pleasant welcome and service by very attentive and helpful team. Food was very good from understandably limited menu.comfortable environment , in a beautiful place next to river and gorgeous picturesque church. Will be back many times. Thanks once again for...a lovely meal, great service and above all a bit of normality. Your staff do you great credit too.More

A lovely stay here. Food staff and location great for exploring south lake district and west Yorkshire. Charming little village location but minutes from the M6 so very easy to get to. A visit to the fairy steps a must - a beautiful walk through...a wood with wild garlic fields!More

I booked this restaurant after locals recommended it. I made the reservation for 7.30pm via email and we arrived on time and were promptly shown to our table. The order for our drinks and main course were taken together and arrived within 15 minutes. My...husband ordered The Special of Chicken Parmiagana but after the waitress checked with the kitchen was told there was none left. He therefore ordered a burger and I ordered fish and chips. The food served was tasty and hot. After finishing the waitress came to collect our plates at 8.10pm ( we had been in the restaurant 40 minutes) . We asked for the sweet menu to be told the chef closed the kitchen at 7.50pm! We were astonished to discover this...in particular since we had been recommended the sticky toffee pudding. We questioned this again and expressed our dissatisfaction. We could have more drinks but no pudding. There were 3 other tables of diners still in the building. We had no option but to pay our bill. I asked to see the duty manager but the waitress told me she was the duty manager but had only worked there 3 days. She said she would pass our disappointment onto reception. She deducted our one drink of the bill. The web site gives restaurant opening time for dinner as 6-9pm so why the chef felt it was reasonable to close the kitchen well before 8pm when a diner had been booked for 7.30pm is beyond belief. It was our final night of a three night break and we had been looking forward to a lovely meal with a few drinks. We ended up back at our hotel before 9pm and ended up getting an ice cream from a local shop.More
