Sunday lunch is very popular and the selection and availability of the carvery explains why. Roast joints, but also half a dozen alternate offerings which can be mixed. Excellent food and possible to go back for more if really hungary. Opening at noon meansit is impossible to actually eat at the booked time and leads to early queues, but otherwise,... More

We have been several times with family and friends. There is a varied menu as well as a well stocked carvery which you can return to try any of the other dishes as well as the carved meats along with a reasonable menu. Kids are well catered for. Inside does tend to look a little drab at the top end... More

We ate at the Railway Inn last night. We have been there several times before and once again were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating - even down to providing gluten free gravy! The selection on the carvery was very extensive, offering plenty of veg and numerous other dishes quite apart from the roasts, and we... More

Viewed from the outside the Railway Inn looks inviting with plenty of on site parking and on entering the interior is okay. However, that is when it goes downhill quickly, menu was carvery only with a few other options on the hot plates, pies, sausages, the vegetables were overcooked, roast potatoes were fine but the gravy was very thin. A... More

Although they were busy the food was cold, told no other menu. The menu was being reviewed, they openly admitted they had a staff problem, which seemed very odd to tell customers. Certainly will be avoiding this restaurant in the future.

We just called in by chance and didn't have a booking and even though they were extremely busy they found us a table. Excellent customer service and we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The food was the best carvery we have been to in a long time, so much choice and all homecooked. Definately... More

Excellent choice on the carvery it never fails me. Beside the three meat choices they always have other dishes and you can also have theses beside the meat choice. The only down side for me is the price of the desserts.

Just wobbled home after yet another fantastic evening here. I had steak and kidney pudding and Em had steak and onion pie. We both opted for the carvery veg but could have had homemade chips if we wanted. The pies were lovely with lots of very tasty meat and gravy. Wednesday night pie night is not to be missed here... Youngest daughter found The Railway Inn, Shottle for a Sunday lunch while we were having a family day out on the adjacent The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. We needed to fit in lunch with the passing trains. Found this Carvery pub on Google Maps. It meant breaking our journey on the railway trip but it was well worth it. Booked the... More
