We visited for a drink in the evening. Good selection of local ale as well as wine and spirits. Staff friendly. Dining room looked cosy and when we return we will undoubtedly try food here.

Booked a table for two and were welcomed by a lovely waiter. Super food - the beef duo was really lovely and well cooked. Drinks expensive but the location and the friendly staff more than jade up for it. We defiantly will come back!

We looked for somewhere to eat that was dog friendly without having to sit outside. The staff were happy to have us with our two dogs, baby and buggy! The food was lovely and the bar was cozy. I would recommend this venue if you have a dog and want to eat in comfort.

This pub belongs to the Vintage chain and therefore drinks were expensive. The food was reasonably priced and we had the fixed two course dinner for £14.95. Grilled mushrooms and pate for starters and rump steaks for main course. Both cooked to our liking and tasty. Dogs are allowed in the bar areas and this was a friendly welcoming pub.

We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. They were helpful but not obtrusive. The lunch was very good, my companion said it was the best chicken pie she had eaten. Served with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes the portions were more than adequate. With a nice log fire burning it was a very pleasant lunch... More

After walking all afternoon in the rain, we decided to call into the castle hotel for some food to warm us both up. All of the staff were bright and bubbly and the food- bacon rib and lamb shank- was delicious. Perfect experience in a warm and friendly restaurant, what more could we ask for? Will be back!

Nice surroundings, helpful staff but very disappointed in the meal. I ordered "Roast Turkey breast wrapped in bacon with lemon and thyme stuffing" It was to be served with roasted carrot, parsnip and seasonal vegetables according to the menu. What I got was three slices of deli Turkey breast, no stuffing, no bacon. The roast parsnips and roast potatoes were... More
