After visiting a former colleague in Northallerton and returning to West Yorkshire via Newby Wiske we realised that we were hungry and decided to find a local hostelry. A sandwich board at the side of the road pointed us in the direction of The Buck Inn at Maunby. On entering, what a magical find. Oak beams, roaring fire and comfortable... More

Absolutely delicious, beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection, don't take it off the menu. Flynn was pleased with the bone.

Visited on the 17th March as a couple. We had the pie and chips. How can such a humble potato turn into something amazing... Not to mention the pie. Big shout out to the chef and his/her amazing helper who was on his own that day... We wished we had returned on the sat but chose to eat somewhere else..... More

It is a while since we last visited The Buck & it has changed hands since our last visit. We need not have worried - everything was as good as before. Very welcoming host & great food. Lovely ambience & it made for a great relaxing Saturday lunchtime. We opted for the £6.95 lunchtime menu & the steak sandwiches with... More

We had lunch here today. Steak and mushroom pie with to die for chips, followed by a delicious lemon tart. The pub has a great ambience and the staff made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked through the door. Will definitely go again

We called in here on spec one Saturday night. It is a cosy place, welcome was very good and bar service very swift. The place was quiet with just one other couple and a biggish family party in the restaurant. Menu was very nice. My husband ordered the breads and oils to start - really plentiful and enough to share... More

It's been a while since I came here, but decided to recently. The greeting was polite and welcoming. Good choice of wines and the menu was short but suitable for everyone. Please note: If there is a terrific choice on a menu you can almost guarantee it's NOT freshly made and cooked. I had the beef, and asked for separate... More

Six of us plus baby in carry cot booked for Sunday lunch today. Lovely characterful pub with open coal fire and comfortable seating. Charming attentive waitresses, a lovely table in the conservatory area and excellent food over three courses after which we retired to the bar area for teas & coffees. Lovely food, good value for money and a fine... More

Delicious Sunday roast - the beef was fantastic and the sticky toffee pudding was rich and delicious. Highly recommended. Jem was a wonderful publican - friendly and welcoming.
