Best place on the strip

Fabulous bar and restaurant, great location, great views, we visited the bar on the first day of our holiday we were made very welcome and never went anywhere else. We used their beach everyday, Eddy was great, he couldn’t do enough for us, set up the sun beds and umbrellas, brought us drinks throughout the day and nothing was too much trouble. Nicolas, Stefanis , Eddy and the barman were so helpful, friendly, funny, entertaining and attentive. We ate there every day, tried most things on the menu, the food was always delicious, plentiful and very good value. Michaela and Tonia cooked everything to order, the food was fresh and very tasty. Michaela, Tonia and the boys always took time to come over to have a chat and see if we were ok, they went above and beyond , we feel like we have made real friends, we called in at night to have a few of their lovely cocktails before going back to the hotel. We would highly recommend a visit to Captain G for anyone visiting Hersonissos you won’t be disappointed.

A must on your stay in Hersonnisos

On day one we walked passed here as it was practically the first place we passed and as British you never stop at the first place!! What a stupid thing to do, Captain G is fantastic! Michaela & the team have looked after us all week. We ate here at lunch, when the sun was so hot and enjoyed lots of things off their menu. As well as going for beers at sundown and staying for food in the evening! Fair to say Toni probably made me the best Pizza I ever had (bold statement but true) The gilt-head fish was also truly delicious. Thanks for looking after us, we will be back soon!

Fantastic

May 2022 • family

Went to Captain G’s for evening meal. Set in a perfect location on the beachfront we had delicious food, they do both classic dishes and Greek food and were served by super friendly people. They spoke to us like friends and weren’t too pushy. We had a lovely view of the sea and they even gave us their jackets when it got cold. Fantastic, next time I am in Crete I will definitely be returning and I would recommend to anyone.

Best Restaurant in all of Crete

Excellent service, outstanding food, extremely friendly and very quick!! I have several food allergies and the chef at Captain G was flexible to adapt to my needs. Highly recommend for gluten-ingokerant (celiac) and lactose intolerant customers. Everything is fresh, you should try the lamb chops!

Best Place to eat and drink in Hersonissos

This place is absolutely amazing!!! The food is delicious and the staff are by far the friendliest, most welcoming in Hersonissos - which says a lot as everyone is friendly there. Would recommend Captain G’s to anyone and everyone heading to the area. We will definitely being going back next time we are there. We stayed at the Infinity Blue Boutique Hotel and Spa on a half board basis and had a great stay but will probably go B&B next time so that we can eat at Captain G’s more often. The staff cannot do enough for you and seem to know everyone. They don’t hound you to eat or drink there like all of the other restaurants which we found so overwhelming. One of the wonderful things we enjoyed most was the seating area on the beach at night as we were able to dip our toes in the sea whilst we drank our cocktails!!! 🏖🍸

Relaxing few drinks

Me and my partner sat outside in the sun and had a great few hours , we didn't eat but plenty of returning customers did while we were there . Stunning view out to sea and some very friendly service from Nikolas. Beer in draught was nice and well priced, cocktails are fresh and went down a treat . Made to feel very welcome . Thankyou

Lovely staff and cocktails, but average food

Captain G’s restaurant was only a few minutes from our hotel, and every time we walked passed we were approached by the gentleman out the front. We promised we would eat here once during our stay…but unfortunately the food was only mediocre. I fancied pasta so went for the chicken and mushroom tagliatelle. There was not a single mushroom in the dish, but lots and lots of broccoli 🤔 the dish also lacked flavour, like it hadn’t been seasoned at all. My other half had the stifado which he stated was fine, but completely overloaded with onions so that’s all he could taste! The drinks were nice and setting is beautiful, but there are much better restaurants in Hersonissos!

Made my holiday

Very welcoming and friendly team at Captain G’s. Really pleased we found this gem - it made my holiday. Spent a lot of my holiday on the beach and in their bar. Food was excellent and they’re very understanding and accommodating with food allergies. Hope to be back one day.

Great spot for a relaxing drink and food

This is a lovely bar/restaurant, great spot next to the beach. The staff are very friendly. We visited most days for teatime drinks, which are served with freshly made popcorn. Also ate here for an evening meal on two occasions. The food is freshly prepared and very tasty.

Hands Down THE BEST PLACE in Hersonissos😍😍

Captain G's was a couple of minutes walk from our hotel, Infinity Blue Boutique & Spa, so it became our "Go To" place for my Husband & I on our Honeymoon last September. Honestly the BEST place we went to, amazing food & drinks, extremely clean, great views, but its the staff that make this place. They are so unbelievably welcoming & friendly, Michaela & her team are amazing. Not only do they work extremely hard to bring everyone great food & service, but they also take the time to speak to everyone in detail. Without sounding cheesy, we left to come home after our 2week Honeymoon genuinely feeling like they actually cared about us & our lives. Thankyou Captain G's for making our Honeymoon so special. Highly recommend & looking forward to returning in September 2025 for my Husbands 40th Birthday🎊🎉

Brilliant Place

We decided to go here on our first night of our holiday for food and drink, unfortunately I was feeling very unwell and as soon as our drinks came we had to leave. The staff were very concerned and asked if I was ok and did we need a taxi or anything else. Really nice of them I thought. We headed back down there a couple of days later and they made us feel so welcome asking if I was ok now etc… We had our meal here, the service and food was excellent.We went to the beach every day after that and used their sun beds and Eddie was on hand for any food or drinks you wanted while you were there, such a friendly lad and liked having a laugh and a joke with everyone. ALL the staff here are great, they can’t do enough for you and the food is great, we will definitely be back here. We went to a few places while we were in Hersonissos but Captain G was definitely our favourite.

Friendly staff!

The man who greeted us outside the venue was very knowledgeable and friendly about the local area and things to do. We didn't feel pressured to go inside and have drinks and ended up coming back a few times. Was such a welcoming place! We also had lunch one day and it was the best burger in Crete!

Great for a meal or just a drink

Very friendly staff, tasty food. We loved the tables overlooking the beach and became regulars during our holiday. Would definitely recommend for either just a drink or a meal (tip - try one of the club sandwiches or the Greek plate).

Best Greek Salad

We came here for lunch as my wife loves Greek Salads. The previous day, she noticed someone having it for lunch and wanted to try it out. Well, it didn’t disappoint! There was a generous helping of delicious feta and plenty of olives. The salad was fresh, crunchy and lovely and cold. I had a very tasty chicken burger with a lovely tangy mayo. There is a great lunch menu so think we’ve found our lunch place for this holiday! Definitely the best Greek salad along the seafront!

Awesome friendly place 🥰

Captain G became our go to bar whilst on holiday in Hersonnisos last week. The staff there became friends and could not do enough for you. We spent lovely times on their beach and were so well looked after.....especially when I got stung by a jellyfish after going in the sea!! Everyone should definitely go and try the baked feta....it's delicious. Can't wait to go back one day 😊
