Delicious

The restaurant is connected to Svalbard Hotel Polfareren - and doubles as the breakfast room for hotel guests. The menu consisted of 3 appetizers, 4 main courses and 3 desserts. More than enough to choose from. My companion chose the Whale tartar, while I had...the Scampi with home made feta cheese, and home smoked ham. Very nice. The waiter was very attentive, and the main course arrived exactly when it should. Companion had the Lamb Rack with garlic mashed potatoes, a delicious demi-glass, roasted vegetables and mushroom. I had the Cod with amadine potatoes, fried vegetables and horseradish foam. The lamb rack was very nice. However - and this deducts from the overall score - the knife supplied was not up to the task. The waiter saved the day by getting a good knife from the kitchen. Dessert was Cheese cake with blueberry. When in Longyearbyen, try out this restaurant.More

Fantastic restaurant

Polfareren is a casual but high quality restaurant attached to the hotel of the same name. The dining room is minimalist but inviting and comfortable, and the service was warm and welcoming from the whole team. The menu was varied enough to suit most people....Each dish that we had was beautifully presented and prepared to the highest standard. All in all this is well worth booking in!More

Nice and tasty food

A really nice dinner. Not many choices but tasty dishes and a cool atmosphere. For sure one spot not to missed if you are in Longyearben.

Local cuisine, fine dining, expensive

We had a whale meat dish, reendeer and local beer. Cosy place with good service. Overall super satisfied.

Amazing dinner

An high quality a-la-carte dinner with a good quality-quantity-price ratio. We took as starter the Whale Tartare and the Antipasti, for main course two reindeer filets, and for dessert two chocolate mousse. 100% satisfied and recommended.

Expectations exceeded!

OMG, what a great surprise! The chef himself brought me my dish, I was like wow. But ok, the food... Omg, awesome! Starter: tartar whale... That made me a little bit uncomfortable, but I tried it and OMG, the flavors were perfectly selected. With sesame...oil and sesame seeds... Yummy! Really tastes like fresh tuna. Wonderful food in a relaxed atmosphere

We visited Polfareren on a quiet evening and had a warm greeting from the friendly hostess. The food was delicious and beautifully presented; we were offered a complimentary dish of hummus and flat bread before the main course of wonderfully tender reindeer served with pureed...pumpkin and roasted cauliflower. The hostess told us that the chef is good with sorbets, which was absolutely true - we tried both the berry with basil sugar sorbet and the pineapple sorbet - both were amazing.More
