We ate here on a Friday evening at 7 o’clock and I’m glad we had booked because the place was very busy with a queue for tables.
The welcome was warm and friendly and we were shown to a nice table in the pleasantly airy restaurant.
We soon ordered our drinks and food.
We both opted for a Nepalese dish (first time for both of us). The menu had a good choice of Nepalese dishes and the usual Asian dishes.
When it arrived it was beautifully presented and smelt wonderful, then when we tucked in to it the taste was great!
The portion size was plentiful and we enjoyed the food in a comfortable environment with very pleasant staff.
We wish we lived nearer Sheringham as this is a top restaurant that we’d like to visit regularly!

Set in an old bank, the interior decor only adds to the dining experience. There is a good variety of choices of both Asian and Nepalese dishes. For those that want British food, the lasagne was excellent. All the food is beautifully presented and freshly cooked. The Nepalese traditional lamb dish is mildly spiced, with the meat melting in your mouth. And to wash it down, either a very reasonably priced bottle of Prosecco at £20 or the Cold Ghurka beer, which comes in a generous 660ml bottle at £5.30. So almost 2 pints. A very good value restaurant, that was extremely busy, which goes to show just how popular it is. The sign outside stated, “Something different” and it was just that. A must visit if in Sheringham, as it won’t disappoint.

Its a very interesting place to eat. The food is very nice. Especially the fried chicken starter. The Nepalese curry is also delicately flavoured and not too hot. There is plenty of it and the value for money is also very good.
What does let it down a bit is the service is a bit slow and unorganised. Took rather a long time to serve us, forgot the knife and fork, didn’t bring out all the main course at the same time. Simple stuff.
BUT definitely go for the food. Its very good!

Good service
Rice was light and fluffy
the nans were delicious, popadoms were ok, dips were poor and they charged extra for them.
my food was too spicy, they kindly offered to make me a Korma.
I am sure they used the same chunks of chicken and just added passata,
No coconut, herbs, nuts, or spices

My wife and my son and I just visited the Bank Restaurant to celebrate her 50th Birthday. We have dined here many times and yet again we had the most excellent meal. It was a surprise meal for my wife and I had organised a balloon and flowers delivered to the restaurant beforehand and when we arrived they were all waiting decorating our table including a bouquet of flowers from the restaurant. Our food was stunning. The Tandoori Mixed Grill, Mixed Sizzler and Lamb Achari were sensational. Our meal was topped off with a surprise cake and sparkler from the staff which really embarrassed my wife promoting a rendition of 'Happy Birthday' from the the entire restaurant. Absolutely Amazing! The food at 'The Bank' is beyond First Class. The staff, as you see, go the extra mile to ensure the evening is perfect which it always is The Chef prepares food which is not only full of exciting flavours but the presentation is something to behold. Thank you Thaman and everyone who made her 50th Birthday memorable. We will be back.

We popped here for dinner whist staying in Sheringham. The staff were lovely and knowledgeable on the menu. The food was really flavoursome and tasty, not as spicy as expected but that did not take anything away from it. It was set up in a COVID safe way and all the staff were wearing masks or visors

We visited for a belated valentines meal and also as a place we've always wanted to try.
We werent disappointed.
We ordered starters, mains and a couple of drinks each and is very well priced for what you get. Service was efficient and couldn't recommend highly enough.
The only niggle is they charge ÂŁ2.50 for the poppadom dips when ordering the 90p poppadoms which they didnt state in the menu from what i saw.
Will definitely be back!

We stayed in Sheringham for a few days and tried several restaurants. None was much good, and the Bank fell into the just about average category. The place completely lacks any kind of ambiance and is set out a bit like a school canteen, with odd clear plastic tables and chairs. The food was quite pricey and we expected more, having eaten in Nepalese restaurants several times in the past. However it was very ordinary apart from the Nan bread which was very good.

We all had different chicken dishes and agreed it was the best cooked chicken in a curry we'd ever had. The flavours were delicious, although I'm not sure what the names of the dishes were. The portion sizes were perfect and the naan bread was the best I'd had in a really long time (garlic and coriander). The staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was just right. It was on the expensive side but I'm seeing that in most places now and I expect prices have increased because of everything that's happened. However, I didn't begrudge a penny because it was such a fantastic meal.

We have ordered takeaway many times & dined in & have never had other than a great experience. Tonight we ordered the identical dishes that we ordered last week when the food was absolutely beautiful.
When we collected & paid, realised they hadn’t put in one of the 2 mains we ordered. The manager? glanced at the dish through the lid & said it was the the vegetable Nepalese we had, so ordered the chatapata to be made up. I sat at the side for over 10 minutes waiting for it, very aware that the rest of the food was all getting cold & we still had to drive the 15 minutes home!
When we got home, found both mains were identical & extremely spicy, really hot. My daughter always has the Nepalese which is always mild to medium. The Chatapata is hot but these were far hotter than that normally is. I called them & told them we had 2 Chatapatas & initially was told they look the same - the only difference between them is the sauce, but they’re both hot dishes. I pointed out that we are locals who have been eating there for years, so we know that’s not true. I should have asked him how he had identified the Nepalese through the closed lid if they look identical! He has said he’ll mahke it up to us next time we order, but my daughter went hungry tonight.
I think whoever was tonight’s chef had a very heavy hand with the chilli, looking at the previous review tonight.
Very disappointed & a total waste of money.

It was a surprise. The food was excellent. Tasty and flavourful, with the right amount of hot and spicy background for our not-so-accostumed taste. We loved the gobi in particular and the naan portion was generous. The service was great and helpful in explaining the menu and give the right suggestions.
We strongly recommend it.

We ordered a takeaway from The bank. Ordering was easy, possibly too much yummy food to chose from but had the Nepalese food and it was some of the tastiest food I have eaten. The order was ready in ten minutes so just enough time to wander over from our holiday let to collect. Friendly staff and would happily return for another visit.

I have eaten in the restaurant before (2020) and enjoyed my meal. However on the 25th June 2021 I ordered and collected a takeaway meal that i'm afraid turned my stomach. Costing ÂŁ35.82 for two people we found it inedible. The dishes i would pretty much guarantee were made with Heinz tomato soup, with left offer roast chicken thrown in. I wont be coming back and as a new resident in Sheringham was really disappointed.

We had our evening meal here without pre-booking even though it was quite busy. The waiters and waitresses were attentive, and supplied us with a 'folded' poppadom each with a pickle tray to share. One waitress had recommended the Vegetable Nepalese Curry to me because there didn't seem to be much variety for vegans. It was very nice with the steamed rice. My partner had Lamb karahi with Lazies naan (cheesy naan) and he enjoyed it too. Whilst I was eating, I looked around at the decor which had interesting murals and paintings on Himalayan scenery. I also noticed the chairs were all matching but the tables weren't for some reason. I had a pot of peppermint tea to aid digestion and we left without feeling too bloated. It's too easy to go the whole hog and overindulge.

I ate here alone early one Saturday evening. I knew the restaurant was likely to be busy and was grateful they could fit me in.
Food wise, it was all freshly cooked and high quality. However the service was disappointing; when my curry was brought to the table the waitress saw some regular customers at the door and without a second thought dumped the plates on my table and left, leaving me to set my table. Eating alone as I was I felt quite overlooked by the staff at times.
It is a very busy restaurant, a lot of people came in to collect takeways while I was there, and it clearly has a very good reputation. It was evident many customers were regulars or repeat customers, which says a lot about the food.
The food was good but the service on this occasion let the experience down for me.
