We were staying in a local hotel and was getting very tired of the restaurant we'd been using. So just on the off chance I looked up some local establishments and came across this place. I'm so glad we did. When we got there the outside looked a little tired but to be fair it was pitch black outside. The... More

Have been to the black horse many times with the girls for our monthly catch ups, and have never been disappointed. This visit was just as good, 3 of us had a brie starter which we all said was delicious and fresh. Followed by pork loin, lasange and bbq chicken all huge portions. Service was brilliant and with the fire... More

Visiting our youngest to see their new flat, we decided to find a pub for Sunday Lunch. Found the pub on google maps and read details on their website. Quick check on Tripadvisor and it sounded ok. Phoned to reserve table for 4 (10 minutes notice) and drove the few minutes to car park at rear. When we arrived we... More

Regularly went here every Sunday for a very long time as the roast dinners were always amazing, portions large, well cooked and value for money. Over the last few months we've been trying out some different places for Sunday lunch as there are so many country pubs around, but we've come back to the Black Horse. We've just never found... We stayed for 3 nights at Crowhurst Park in a cabin and walked over to this pub on Fri night and had lasagne, which was delicious. Went back Saturday evening with friends, one who is gluten intolerant and the staff were very helpful with her special requirements. Sunday we had roast dinners and again delicious home cooked food and lovely... More

My husband and I met my parent here for a meal, as it close to where they were staying. It's a fairly small pub, menu is limited but there is still something for everyone. There is a sign above the bar stating that all food is cooked to order so be prepared for a slower than normal service, but please... More

Decided to take my brother to The Black Horse for a meal before going to the theatre. I don't see him often as he lives abroad, so I wanted to go somewhere I knew would be good. I used to live in the area - over 20 years ago and frequented the pub many times - and a couple since.... More

So we visited this pub having seen the previous trip advisor reviews. Yes the outside is awful and the car park as well however inside is ok. It's still very much dated and has a typical olden style bar but an ok ish restaurant but I wouldn't say as good as other travellers have made out. We arrived for our... More
