I visited today for lunch with a friend. I had the gluten free fish and chips which were the most amazing I've ever eaten! Eating out gluten free is always a bit hit and miss but this place caters so well for people with coeliac disease or a gluten intolerance! The range of dishes for a gluten free diet is... More

The owners Liz and Shem are so friendly and bubbly but so are all the Staff they always have a smile on their face. The food is lovely and always a great selection to choose from, well worth a visit.

The Hope is a large Pub at the end of the West Pier in Newhaven, not the prettiest of English towns because of its Port and semi-industrialist nature. However we received a warm welcome from the landlord and enjoyed a lunch of whitebait, salad and baked potato with grated cheese. The fish was fresh but quite heavily battered and deep... More

Go to the Hope on regular basis. Great selection of beer and ale. Food is always top notch and a good specials board to accompany the menu. Staff are always friendly with excellent service.

This is a lovely pub, full of maritime and seaside ambience. The a Landlady and Landlord are very friendly and there is often entertainment on offer. The food and service is held in high regard by locals and visitors alike. It is nicely situated close to the harbour and beach and is a popular place with visitors all year round

Went out for a quiet meal with friends - we needed a wind down from Christmas! This was anything but - there appeared to be a designated children's corner, where young lads were throwing darts at just about anything, whilst their parents, and even younger children tried to out-shout each other....a promising evening spoilt.

Happened upon the Hope as a Camper stopover in the car park for us and it was quiz night!!! Nicely located for walk around the outer harbour and stoney beach. Friendly landlord and staff and locals. Obviously a very popular pub with the locals. Won a box of beer in the raffle -result!!!

Decided to try this pub for Sunday lunch as a treat for my dad after reading the generally very good reviews. They were extremely busy but we found a small table in the main area, and found an extra chair. Went up to the bar and got the drinks from a nice selection of beers. A member of staff -... More
