Though the rooms were tidy and clean, the hot water failed to work in the morning and the shower is only fit for people under 5 and half feet tall. Breakfast was poor, dry and overcooked. Hard to justify the nearly-£200 a night rate.

Front of house staff were friendly and welcoming, apart from the owner who was not. The restaurant was very full and clearly popular with an older crowd. We sat in an unfortunate position where for the whole meal I looked directly into the kitchen watching...More

12 of us went here for a family birthday (80th). Our family are regulars (so that must say something!) The staff are great, the food is lovely, the building, furniture and ambience is wonderful. Taking that all in to account, it's worth the money.

Please can you tell me a bit about the beach. Is it a good sandy beach with good swimming. The hotel sounds just what we are looking for but a good beach is very important to us. Many thanks Chris

Sedlescombe is a country village about 7 miles north of Hastings. There is a beach at Hastings but it is shingle and pebble and not what you are looking for. Camber is about 15 miles away and I understand it is sandy but I... More
