We had a lovely meal. Service was excellent. Waiting staff were very patient and gave assistance to disabled members of our group. Much appreciated.

First visit here as could not get booked into where we wanted to go so i googled best restaurants in essex and this came up. I would put it in the list of the top best ten. Its tucked away down a small back street and i liked the entrance to this place. Inside has a nice lounge area where... More

We arrived early and enjoyed nice well served drinks and the menu was really exciting. Not a sniff of beer battered cod and chips, lamb shank or the house burger. A smart good quality menu rarely now seen in Essex. Food was very well served and in the main excellent only one complaint was a fairly flavourless and tough lamb.... More

Visited Russell's last week after hearing good things. We booked a table in advance. We walked in and was greeted by the very friendly owner who took our drink orders and educated us on some of the whiskeys he had in stock. Russell's has a very unique feel about it, very warm and traditional. Me and my girlfriend both had... More

This was our first visit and one we have been promising for a very long time. We were not disappointed either by the resturant or the food. First class service and friendly staff. This was the first of many visits I'm sure.

After a warm greeting we were shown to the lounge area. We decided to start with a cocktail. I chose a white wine with our starters and a red for main. Our aged red dinner wine was perfectly kept from the temperature controlled cellar and was perfectly decanted with care. It tasted fabulous! This restaurant has an exceptional wine list,... More

We had a great meal with wine for 7 people. The restaurant was busy but we were not kept waiting for any part of our order, great service.

We booked for a family celebration with three generations present. The food was amazing, but also the manager and chef were very accommodating towards the children. Lovely atmosphere - it was very relaxed. Scallops for starter were a particular highlight.

My partner and I have visited Russell's several times in the last 18 months and i must start by saying the food is always fantastic - faultless in fact. However on our third visit last week the service was terrible. On arrival we advised we had the groupon deal (2 courses + prosecco), and were looked at rather blankly by... More

The heart of the restaurant is a magnificent timbered barn. Originally built in 1372 it is listed as being of architectural and historical importance. As you walk in the restaurant the spectacular high ceiling and the gallery overlooking the main dining area creates a wonderful dramatic impression as you enter a world of elegance and fine food.
