Don’t waste your time. Had a table booked for 19:30 for 4 people on Wednesday 24th get a call from the restaurant at 19:11. To say inform me that unfortunately the restaurant is having to close due to an issue. Found that odd as we...was already outside over the road having a cigarette so our other mate when in & said about the booking & they were going to close because they were quite its only just gone 7pm in the evening. How stupid to make that decision so early. The lady served us looked so unhappy & you could see that she didn’t want to be there at all. One table of 5 & another table of 5 & a table it 3 & my table of 3 was meant to be 4 but our other mate wasn’t able to join us ;(. We had to ask 4 times for extra chill sauce & had to ask where our breed was & drinks. Only a few tables & getting orders wrong & having to chasing up is. Absolutely ridiculous we order some olives ( I don’t like them ) but my mate did they were going off as they were too mushy & we still got charged my mate had only eaten a few the lady serving us even said oh do you not like them & we told her why we didn’t eat any & yet we still got charged. The meal was ok not very hot salad tasted like vinegar when salad is going out of date. & we still got charged service charge we didn’t pay as we legally don’t have ti pay this my mate did as she didn’t want to feel uncomfortable or awkward. That’s down to her but we could hear the other table of 5 saying the lady isn’t good that not what we ordered. I’m glad ti know it’s not just us. I paid my part of the bill cash & yet again we had to sort the issue out I was given the wrong change how can you make this mistake when the till tells you how much change to give. A real shame as this place used to be good & you would think that with everything going up that you would do your best to try & make customers want to come back. I can’t believe we had to chase up our drinks, food & sort out the change. Toilets are so clean & the restaurant looks good & very good music but the chef didn’t have a hair net or a kitchen hat on or a facial hair net on. Not very hygiene friendly tbhMore

Where do I start! This event was for a leaving do and I wanted somewhere that could accommodate between 20-30 people, I called and spoke to the lovely Madalina who got a bit confused so said the manager would call me back. I didn’t want...hidden costs or everyone to have to add up what they ordered so the man I spoke to offered us 3 choices, £25.99 for 2 courses, £29.99 for 3 courses or £34.99 for 2 courses plus unlimited Prosecco for 2 hours. I had visited 3 times before the event to pay the deposit to drop the menu choices off as asked and then to pay the balance which wasn’t taken as they said to pay it on the night. We arrived to put the decorations up early and again the lovely Madalina helped, I asked how we were going to arrange for the people having Prosecco which was met with confusion, I presume it was the manager and supposedly the person I spoke to denied knowledge of the deals he offered. Anyway bread was brought out and a couple of dips there was bottled water on the table when we arrived (6 bottles) little did I know I would be charged £4 a bottle for said water we didn’t order! Humus came out with no bread so we asked for some to go with the starters, another £16 on bread added to the bill! Lots of people had ordered the spicy prawns for starters which came out as 4 tiny prawns on a plate in a bit of sauce. I had halloumi and it was like rubber, I know it’s hard with a big table for everything to be fresh but I had visited a couple of times previously and had really good food. Mains were disappointing lamb was dry and small chunks. Our first glass of Prosecco was given at 8.30 and we had to constantly ask for top ups, there were 10 of us drinking Prosecco, at 10.10 I asked for more and got told we couldn’t have more. The worst part was going to pay the bill, firstly he tried to charge me £39.99 for the Prosecco drinkers I argued and this got changed but I wasn’t prepared for the nearly £200 extra on top of what I had collected from everyone. I was charged £24 for water I didn’t ask for, £16 on bread that wasn’t explained would be extra that should have come with certain starters and £89 in service charge!! The rest was a few cokes ordered at the table and a beer that was never received (fair enough) but I made it clear when booking I wanted a set price with no hidden extras! I ended up paying it and being out of pocket because despite the food the singer was brilliant and we just wanted a good send off for our friend. 27 NHS workers that won’t be returning or recommending this place. All in all after thinking I had been thorough in my planning and organising I was very disappointed, and it wasn’t just us another big table of youngsters for a birthday celebration had exactly the same problems!More

We had my sons 30th birthday meal at Barru. The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much for them. The singer was excellent. Thank you to everyone at Barru for a great night.
