Excellent food and a beautiful restaurant! When i arrived, the waiters (who were Italian) were very welcoming and showed me to the table. The decor was beautiful. A traditional dining room with properly laid tables and a nice bar. There was a good selection of...wines as well as a full bar. The menu was very true to Sicilian and Southern Italian cuisines. There was a great choice of starters. I had the ‘ affumicati di mare’ ( mixed smoked seafood starter) which was as fresh and delicious as i had in Taormina this summer! There were some interesting pasta dishes and lots of seafood on the menu , but i was torn between the monkfish and the swordfish. The swordfish was cooked to perfection , and such a treat as i seldom see it here! Looking at the other tables and what they were eating looked fantastic too. I regret not taking a cannoli away with me, they looked too good! I look forward to returning soon, thank you all so much! Top notch. 👌More

Superb ! It is just a breath of fresh air . Beautiful decor , spotless clean , wonderful white table cloths and divine food ! A place where as soon you enter , the owner , Salvatore and his staff , Paul , make you...feel that you are in for a treat ! Relaxing atmosphere, friendly service and delectable food. Never mind the Nouvelle Cuisine which leaves you with empty wallet and you need to go home and have a sandwich because you are still hungry.More

We had visited Basilica before and had an amazing meal so when planning my husband’s 50th birthday it seemed like an excellent choice. I booked over a month ago for a table of 8 for all the family. When we arrived last night I was...really disappointed to have been squeezed on a table that would have seated 6 at a push, they had clearly overbooked the restaurant. I expressed my concern that it wouldn’t be big enough and I felt we were squished in a corner also that I had given plenty of notice but by now there was no other option. We couldn’t order garlic bread or anything to share as there was no room on the table, we could barely get the bottles of wine and drinks. Unfortunately the food seemed to suffer last night too. 5 of us had Frito Misto to start but the calamari were tough and rubbery. Mains - the sea bass was full of bones, and the Parma ham pizza was not nice and the meat was poor quality. The pork belly on the specials was good though. I had a word with the staff about my disappointment and they did knock a bottle of wine off the bill. However the sting in the tail was the owner saying someone had to suffer tonight and unfortunately it was you, next time I will put you on a better table - that was after paying the bill of over £300! None had to suffer you just don’t overbook! Unfortunately there won’t be a next time for us!More

Stumbled upon this restaurant while drinking in bar opposite! Staff very welcoming and friendly. We ate from the specials board and wasn’t disappointed! Shared the Stuffed squid and Octopus which was so tender and tasty sauce. I had the Lobster tagliatelle for main which was...delicious. My partner had the fillet steak which was nice quality and tender. Overall very satisfied and would definitely return again.More

Wow! Dont even know where start, the most attentive and friendly waiters, who took the time to explain through all the specials, discussed the food courses too, authentic Italian decor - so beautiful and cosy! The food my goodness it was amazing we had garlic...bread, King prawns, sea bass and a pasta dish it was the most delicious food I have had in a long time, cooked to perfection, served just at the right time and utterly wonderful a real experience! We are not local just visiting and would throughly reccommend this to anyone seeking a truly wonderful evening with fantastic food. Price was very reasonable. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the waitirs were very generous to give us a shot of limoncello (which was yummy) too. Couldn't have celebrated in a better way! Thank you!More

This is my second visit at the Basilica, I was expecting the same service and fortunately was even better, The staff was very attentive and caring, explaining the specials on the board, I choose the octopus in a spicy tomato sauce whilst my wife had...the antipasto fantasia, instead my daughter had the king prawns in garlic sauce, as mains me and my wife had a rare tuna steak with a balsamic rocket salad and my daughter had a fillet steak and chunky chips whilst my son had a pizza. Another astonishing evening out. See you soonMore
