About

The Tea Rooms was established in May 2009 by Lisa-Jane Spence at Olivers Nurseries, Witham. The traditional family owned tea shop soon blossomed as it began to offer brunches, lunches, homemade soups, quiches and daily specials in addition to its array of cakes, scones and sweet treats. The Tea Rooms left its home at the Nurseries in December 2014 and reopened finally in brand new premises at 46 Newland Street, Witham, next to Boots. The Tea Rooms has full disabled access and toilet facilities, free wifi, and a small outside seating area. The menu is child friendly and the toilets have a baby changing area. The Tea Rooms is licensed to sell alcohol and customers are advised to book for a midweek roast to avoid disappointment. Our roasts are now served on Wednesdays.

We ordered an takeaway afternoon tea box for our staff Christmas do. The food was amazing and so much in the boxes. We also ordered a vegetarian and a dairy free version that were served on separate platters so no cross contamination. It was lovely as Dairy free to be able to have the same as everyone else as everything was home baked and not bought in so it tasted lovely It was fantastic value for money as there was lots of food. I cant wait to order again.

Delicious Takeaway Afternoon Tea!

I was looking for a reasonably priced Afternoon Tea for 7 for a Baby Shower that also catered for gluten, dairy and soya free! I messaged The Tea Rooms on messenger and organised to pop in to discuss what we wanted with Lisa-Jane (who was really helpful and did not bat an eyelid at the dietary requirements), I left with some ideas and was able to confirm final numbers, sandwich selection and any other details through messenger. I collected on the morning of the Baby Shower with no problems and was surprised at the amount of food and the selection of desserts and cakes. All of the food was well presented on trays ready for us to take away and set up. I was even given the chance to pay the remaining balance via bank transfer which was great when we were rushing around and still had balloons to source! The sandwiches were lovely and the cake/dessert selection was delicious and definitely a favourite amongst the party (we would definitely recommend the scones, lemon mouse and brownies - even the GF brownies were amazing!) I could not thank Lisa-Jane and the Tea Rooms enough, they saved me having to do it myself as I'd already asked elsewhere. I just can't believe I didn't know about this hidden gem in our little town! Looking forward to going back!

We run a very small business but a tight ship with talented, dedicated staff who are the reason why our little shop continues to do well after eleven years. Afternoon Tea

What an amazing treat! After seeing the takeaway afternoon tea pictures online, I ordered one straight away and picked it up today. The sandwiches were delicious with lovely fillings and a great dressing of salad. The cakes and scones were so fresh and perfectly presented with raspberries and strawberries. What great value for money!

Cups Cakes for Ruby Anniversary

Went into the Tearooms to ask if they could make me 30 cupcakes for a Ruby wedding anniversary, i did not really know what I wanted but Lisa-Jane ssaid yes she could do them and would contact me with a price. The price was agreed and she sent me pictures of some cup cakes and asked if that was what I was looking for. All I can say is not only did they look absolutely beautiful, they tasted wonderful too. All our guests complimented the cakes - the only complaint was I should have ordered more so that there were spare, and it worked out great as we had arranged a lunch on a steam train and did not want the faff of trying to cut up a large cake. Thank you Lisa-Jane for making our special occassion go so smoothly.

I visited the tea rooms this lunch time with my mum and nan and for our first visit we were very impressed with everything. The food was delicious especially the homemade lemon drizzle cake, everything is very clean, sanitised and all the staff wear face masks and they are very friendly and attentive. All in all a very lovely lunch in the tea rooms and I’d recommend it to anyone :)

Lovely tea room, lovely food, lovely staff

So I have had a few afternoon teas here for special occasions , breakfasts, and made a couple of small special order requests; and I am so pleased take away was an option throughout lockdown to keep supporting this business...and still is an option for larger numbers. The ladies were so apologetic as the numbers I had for an occasion today couldn't be met within the tea room due to covid rules, but I wouldn't go anywhere else and can't recommend this tea room enough, so take away it was! They accommodated dietary requirements and preferences, and added extras a couple of days before (sausage rolls went down a treat alongside the afternoon tea). As always, thank you so much! Very happy afternoon of eating lovely sandwiches, cakes and scones xxx

Home Delivery Afternoon Tea

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea today! Despite being quite a last minute order, the service we received was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious. Really generous, nicely presented and oh my goodness it was all so tasty! The napkins were a cute little extra touch, and the scones with jam and clotted cream were exceptionally good. Thank you so much!

Wow. ! Lisa made our lockdown 21st birthday super special. I told her it was a under the sea theme. Lisa made wonderful cupcakes and biscuits shell shaped with silver malteseres! The sandwiches were wonderful and catered for all my fussy family (vegetarians, only plain cheese, ham, and nice fillings for the less fussy). Lisa decorated the boxes with sea stickers and 21 stickers what a nice and extra touch. 😍Prompt reply to my messages and wonderful customer service. Cant wait to visit when you re open. Only complaint is everything was so nice I have gained lots of weight 😀 thanks again..

Afternoon Tea for Parents

was searching for Tea 4 2 in the Witham area and this company came up at the top with very good reviews and recommendations, so this was the company to go for everything went smoothy from ordering, payments, and delivery. This was for my Dads 80th birthday during Lockdown (Covid-19) and parents was extremely pleased with this as they haven't had this before but they thoroughly enjoyed it and saved some for the next day, they also loved the scones which was large and fresh all home made. many thanks Lisa

Sunday lunch

The Tea Room in Witham have just started a Sunday lunch Club, once a month. Today, was the first one, there was a choice of two starters, two main courses and two desserts. All delicious and reasonably priced. Mine was also Gluten and Dairy free. Looking forward to the next one.

Afternoon Tea for Two

To celebrate my husband's birthday I ordered Afternoon Tea for Two. As we are shielding it was delivered. Mine was gluten free. The quality, variety and quantity was brilliant. The sandwiches and salad were freshly made, the scones, cream and jam delicious and the assortment of fresh fruit and cakes amazing! I think it's the first time I've eaten strawberries in January! On ordering I mentioned that my husband loves chocolate and he thoroughly enjoyed his assortment of chocolate- themed cakes. A huge thank you to The Tea Rooms for making and delivering the best afternoon tea we have ever tasted!

Afternoon tea delivery

My 24 year old son, stuck at home with his mum and sister asked for an afternoon tea to celebrate his birthday. I had seen many complimentary reviews on the nextdoor app so ordered from the Tea Rooms. It was everything described and better. Delivered with great personal service, presented beautifully, and, most important of all, the most delicious range of sandwiches, cakes and scones. We were also able to order my son some sausage rolls which are his favourite, they were so good I sneaked one for myself! I was very impressed with the service and my daughter has already put in a request for the same for her birthday in July. Can thoroughly recommend.

Birthday Afternoon Tea

Lockdown means that going out for a birthday celebration was not an option, so Witham Tea Rooms came to the rescue with a brilliant Afternoon Tea. It was really easy to order and the quality was outstanding - good choice of freshly made sandwiches, fresh salad, 4 generously sized scones with cream and jam, a selection of little cakes, biscuits, coconut ice and fresh fruit. I'd recommend anybody to give them a try

MOTHERS DAY AFTERNOON TEA

Lisa Jane is extremely talented and every time we receive our afternoon tea takeaways we are never disappointed. The portion sizes are exceptional and nothing is too much. The flavours of sandwiches are varied, as well as the cakes so there is lots to choose from. Our favourite is always the scones... as they are so big! It is great for families and we have been living off of them during lockdown. It is very easy and hassle free to order and collect for takeaway. I highly recommended the Tea Rooms (post lockdown) as the shop is very friendly and clean and always a lovely atmosphere. 10/10 and can’t fault. Thanks L-J and all the ladies at the Tea Rooms ❤️

Lockdown Afternoon Tea for 2

Contacted the Tea Rooms a couple of days back about an Afternoon Tea box for me and the hubby to have a treat together today. Response was quick and friendly and every detail was booked in. I collected my box this morning and it was gorgeous. We are now both royally stuffed, fresh tasty sandwiches, moist cakes and scones and a gorgeous creamy, zesty lemon mousse, perfect afternoon tea and we look forward to treating ourselves again soon.
