Have heard good reviews in the past so popped in as we were in the area. Menu at lunchtime was perfect for us; wild mushroom risotto, scallops, venison and fillet steak with a dessert of pear tarte tatin to follow. All well prepared using fresh ingredients. Very impressed with the design of each dish.

Excellent food and interesting menu at Ronnies. The Pheasant Rillettes and wild mushroom risotto especially recommended. The risotto looks quite small when it arrives but goodness me, it's filling! Main courses of venison and the braised ox-cheek also went down very well. A very reasonable wine-list with a good choice of wines. Some seemed to me somewhat expensive (there was... More

The food in this restaurant is truly scrumptious and is presented artistically. The bread and tasters provided along side the meal were a really nice touch and top quality. The staff were really friendly. I would really recommend this restaurant!!

We went a a group of five friends a couple of which often frequent this restaurant. From the moment we entered we where greeted with a warm welcome and shown to a lovely round table. The scallops were delightful but for me the mushroom risotto was outstanding. Three of our group chose the steak one for the turkey and I... More

I went to this restaurant with my son for a special meal and loved it. I would certainly go back. The service and the food itself was really good. Could thoroughly recommend this.

Went with a small family group one Sunday lunchtime. The restaurant eventually filled up completely by 14h00, so it's popular with locals. We struggled to get the drinks we wanted as everything comes in large size bottles. The duck rillettes were undistinguished in our view. The "steak" on offer couldn't be cooked blue as we like it, we were told, and... More

We visited for lunch with friends. Prior to the visit my friend kept saying she was really looking forward to it - well I wasn't disappointed, and having eaten at other quality restaurants this one is well up there. We settled down and ordered our food and the wine from a very good wine list. I ordered a bottle of... More

Visited Ronnies for our staff night out. Food, atmosphere and service exemplary. Tried the Ox cheek- never eaten before but a convert. Beautifully cooked. A big shout out for the coffee snd nut fudge too.

16 of us met for a Christmas dinner last night. The service was only surpassed by the quality of the food, simply stunning. The special Christmas menu offered 3 choices for each course and all were executed to perfection. I settled for the partridge parfait, followed by a traditional Christmas turkey dinner with all trimmings and christmas pudding with cognac... More

We had a wonderful evening at Ronnies. The Pudding Club tasting menu was wonderful. The starters were big enough to enjoy, but not too big. The 3 of our group had the steak main that was cooked to perfection and I had brill and it was superb. To then have 4 varied, tasty and beautifully presented deserts rounded off an... More

Description
Ronnie's restaurant in the heart of Thornbury has turned a crumbling 17th century building into a lively, stylish eaterie and coffee lounge. Recently voted South West Restaurant of the Year by The Good Food Guide, the dining room features exposed natural stonework and beamed ceilings hung with art works from Castle Gallery. Chef-owner Ronnie Faulkner brings years of training and experience in the kitchens of stars like Anton Mosimann to his inventive modern European cuisine prepared with a British twist. Signature dishes include seasonal dishes like seared scallops wrapped in bacon, Cornish lamb with baby spring veg and lemon. Local produce is the rule, and wines are supplied by boutique vintners with many available by the glass.
