Went here many years ago and had the best pie ever.....so decided to revisit. It's a lovely old-fashioned proper country inn, roaring fire very comfy especially on a wet Sunday afternoon. We all had starters which were nice although, they substituted the bread on my...More

thank you for the kind words, I am not sure where te term legandary pie came from. We call them proper pies, and obviously they are different every time they are made. Thank you again

As we live just down the road we go here a lot, the food is reliably great, the beer and the wine selection is good too. Very happy to live nearby.

This is a pub we visit on occasionally and have never been disappointed. Went with some friends for Christmas dinner and all I can say was that it was superb. Certainly not the cheapest in the area but I'm a great believer in that you...More

Well, with a title like that I had better explain why! The main lounge area has now been turned into a non friendly extension to the dining area. The wooden tables and chairs are probably more suited to a cheap cafe! And they are very...More

I am truly grateful that you will be avoiding the White Horse for a few more years. This was a truly miserable man, who complained to the staff that every time he comes to the pub he cannot get a table to eat. Probably because...More

On arrival a little delay on being allocated a table for four diners plus a short delay for drinks orders, seemed bar staff favoured locals/regulars. However may have just entered at wrong time, meal orders taken quickly and served competently within 30 mins. Menu plentiful...More

Description
Parts of the ancient building of the White Horse date back to the 16th century, and the two large Inglenook open fires bear testament to their heritage with their smoking chambers and their priest hole. These fires which are always alight during the winter months throw their heat into the various bar areas. The locals bar, with its dart board, and cosy village atmosphere retains the typical English pub image. Roaring log fire, the slap of cards on the table during a crib match and the thump of darts in the board, echo quietly in this bar. No background music can be heard, just the agitated discussions of the village elders who frequent this oasis of good beer & conversation. The lounge bar, with its equally large Inglenook can accommodate up to 40 people sitting and many more standing. Used by many people as a dining area, it still retains its “Olde World Charm”. A comfortable Chesterfield and deep farmhouse chairs merely add to the pleasant ambience of this lovely area. The restaurant has been built in a new area that extends towards the lovely pub garden. Seating 90 customers it makes a perfect place to enjoy the excellent food that is always available.
