The interior of the building is very attractive and spacious. There is a good range of draught beers and lagers. The food is acceptable without in any way being more than average when compared with many other establishments. If I was passing by again I...More

Perfectly, the dictionary definition is as follows; synonyms: superbly, superlatively, excellently, flawlessly, faultlessly, to perfection, without fault, ideally, wonderfully, marvellously, magnificently, sublimely, admirably, inimitably, incomparably, impeccably, immaculately, exquisitely, consummately. Having moved into walking distance of this pub I have visited a few times now. Food has been beautiful and staff are lovely. I would highly recommend it as its local quality cooked food not a chain pub.

Stayed locally about 1 mile away in local hotel, so booked a table for the Friday evening. The bar area on entering was as we say up North a little rough and ready, but nevertheless full of locals, welcoming, and not without atmosphere or charm....More

Genuine local pub offering a wide menu of home cooked food, some standards dishes but some surprises, good food well presented. Nice touch: it still has a bar for locals to sit on a stool by the fire for a pint!

Many many thanks for your comments. You are correct it is good that one can still find a locals bar where you can eat & drink in front of an open fire

With all its charm the White Horse is truly a gem amongst pubs. As fairly local residents it may have taken us way too long to find it, so more a hidden gem, but we're making up for lost time now. Whether it's been for...More

Description
Parts of the ancient building of the White Horse date back to the 16th century, and the two large Inglenook open fires bear testament to their heritage with their smoking chambers and their priest hole. These fires which are always alight during the winter months throw their heat into the various bar areas. The locals bar, with its dart board, and cosy village atmosphere retains the typical English pub image. Roaring log fire, the slap of cards on the table during a crib match and the thump of darts in the board, echo quietly in this bar. No background music can be heard, just the agitated discussions of the village elders who frequent this oasis of good beer & conversation. The lounge bar, with its equally large Inglenook can accommodate up to 40 people sitting and many more standing. Used by many people as a dining area, it still retains its “Olde World Charm”. A comfortable Chesterfield and deep farmhouse chairs merely add to the pleasant ambience of this lovely area. The restaurant has been built in a new area that extends towards the lovely pub garden. Seating 90 customers it makes a perfect place to enjoy the excellent food that is always available.
