We were on holiday in the area and had noted several good reports in the comment book where we were staying about the plough inn so decided to give it ago. Several different ages and tastes were accommodated with the menu, to start we had chicken strips, salmon and advacado salad, chicken and bacon puff pastry pie and went down... More

The Tripadvisor photograph and Post code do not correspond with the Plough (though the Wye Valley Brewery itself is next door), where the postcode appears to be HR7 4HJ, so check that you have the right place. After a few miles cross country on narrow lanes from Bishops Frome we arrived at the main road, where a sign proclaimed that... More

Nice enough pub in the Herefordshire countryside but the menu is poor, I thought I cant go wrong with a gammon steak, hot but very greasy, brown leaves in the salad that's just lazy not checking things like that. I didn't complain as the waitress did not seemed interested in anything to do with lunch service, wife had salmon in... More

The worst of pub food, The Plough Inn is based in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside yet the menu comes straight from the deep freeze via the microwave. The menu is straight from the 70’s -80’s however the prices seem pretty up to date. If only this style of pub could produce quality food that’s in season instead of... More

Called in a couple of nights ago early for a meal. Service was great and meal arrived piping hot as usual and very promptly. However, my steak and ale pie with pastry topping was wonderful with lots of really rich tasty gravy whereas, my wife's chilli was apparently very wish you washy and somewhat disappointing! Quite unusual for the Plough.... More

We were made very welcome by the staff. To start we had garlic prawns, the fried camembert and the black pudding w poached egg were all much appreciated & frankly enough food really! For mains we had rump steak, rib eye steak, salmon, Moroccan casserole, fish&chips - again - very filling portions & delicious. Although full - the deserts proved... More

I've been here a couple of times and can only say I have enjoyed one meal. I did not like Sunday lunch at all, not enough choice in vegetables, roast potatoes where very greasy and found that the gravy tasted very creamy and to much flour added.

Another great Sunday lunch at the Plough, with two teenaged boys who relished the carvery, and four adults who thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Nothing was too much trouble - even though banana-split was not on the Dessert Menu, they still produced one. The chef personally re-assured my miece that a particular allergen was not used. Highly recommended.
