We were in the area planning to visit Chartwell, but it was very busy so we decided to find somewhere for an early lunch. We were aware of this pub but hadn't tried it before. We were given a very friendly welcome and enjoyed a hearty roast lunch. We sampled between us the beef, pork and chicken and they were... More

Stopped here after visiting Hever Castle. No visible menus to look at before going in, so went in and sat down, which is when you are presented with a very limited menu. Assume there may be a different one for weekdays. Ordered beef roast. One and a half slices of very fatty beef, very over priced at 15 pounds and... More

Having enjoyed some good meals here in the past we reserved a table for lunch with visiting family. The weather was good enough (just) to eat outside and we ordered drinks and lunch at the bar. The meals were served quite quickly but the food was really disappointing. The Thai chicken curry was not but rather lumps of chicken in... More

This used to be a favourite Pub of ours as it is very old and traditional and near to Hever Castle with a lovely garden and 14th Century ambiance. Unfortunately the place is under new ownership and it has become rather expensive and poorly managed. The menu is rather limited, portions are small and the number of staff has been... More

Stayed at Hever Castle B&B, the Wheatsheaf is a 10 minute drive away. Very well kept building. The staff were very nice and looked after us well. My husband had the Shepherd's pie and brownie with ice cream and I had the apple, celery and walnut super salad with chicken followed by cranberry crumble and cream. All cooked very well... More

This used to be our "go to" place for a lovely meal and drink in the country. Unfortunately it has changed hands and has now become a restaurant rather than the glorious atmospheric Tudor pub that it used to be. You can't eat unless you've booked - there is no bar menu and the staff need to go to charm... More

Six of us from 3 generations booked for Saturday evening. A good selection of meat and fish including from the grill. Special deal for kids with 2 courses under £10. (free before 7pm). Mini fish cakes to share worked well with artisan breads Filet steak cooked as requested. Mussels in cheese sauce which gave an unusual smell but tasted fine.... More

Another walk another stop. We stopped at the Wheatsheaf on Sunday in mid walk. We sat outside the pub in lovely sunshine - the W'sheaf collects the sun in a gentle embrace. We all enjoyed a very good coffe served with a piece of lovely home made fudge by a helpful and attentive member of the staff. At £3.50 a... More

Popped in to The Wheatsheaf with a friend today after a lovely hike around Chiddingstone and Hever. We had a really nice lunch. Very tasty lamb shank shepherds pie. Service was very friendly and efficient. Nice relaxed ambience in the pub. We were both really impressed. I've been to quite a few of the pubs in the area and think... More

Welcome to The Wheatsheaf at Bough Beech, an independent pub restaurant serving freshly-made, inspiring food, cooked in our own kitchen by chef David Fuller and his talented team. We use only the finest local ingredients and produce from our kitchen garden to create seasonal dishes we think you'll love. But don't just take our word for it – have a look at our menus. Situated on the edge of the High Weald in west Kent, The Wheatsheaf is a stone's throw from Bough Beech reservoir, and just five minutes drive from Hever Castle. Once a hunting lodge rumoured to have been a much-loved retreat for King Henry VIII, it's still a firm local favourite today – and with its welcoming atmosphere, it's not hard to see why. Now known for beautifully-prepared, locally-sourced food and a fine selection of wines and real ales, The Wheatsheaf is a cosy haven in the winter with roaring log fires and in the summer you can soak up the sun on our beautiful terrace. Cyclists, horse riders, walkers (and dogs, if you call in advance) are always welcome, and with plenty of parking available there's every reason to visit – so what are you waiting for?
