After a walk from Herne Bay, we called into the King Ethelbert Inn for lunch. Really nice atmosphere and great food. Certainly don't scrimp on the portion size!! Very welcoming, even allowed the dog in. My daughter is vegetarian and this was well catered for. Looking forward to the next visit!

We visited here on the New Year Bank Holiday just on the off chance. The pub was crowded inside so we decided to brace the weather and eat outside. A great sun trap. Beer was good and whilst the food was traditional pub fare, the fish and chips was good. Certainly worth coming back in the summer.

Lunch time visit and enjoyed two hot, tasty dishes, friendly and efficient staff, all washed down with a tasty pint of bitter. Have visited on a number of occasions and have always come away feeling happy.

Took my wife to King Ethelbert Inn for lunch. The food was great, the price reasonable and the staff very helpful and polite. The location is great, just a minute from the shore and next to Reculver Towers.

Spent a nice evening with a group of friends . Staff were polite but slightly slow with service. Food not what I call fine dining but at least part of it came to the table warm. The desert was a good try at being posh but failed on taste.I would like to see if it was the same if me and... More

Although my husband and I have been here before just for a drink after an enjoyable walk from Herne Bay, we had never eaten here. Every time we have been the place is always busy so when friends came down for the weekend I thought this was the perfect opportunity to have one of the pub's Sunday lunches. I thought... More

We went to The King Ethelbert Pub for lunch as the Cafe was unfortunately closed and although the food was tasty and reasonably priced I was disappointed with the customer service particularly as they are advertising Free kids meal with every adult meal you would think they would of been abit child friendly! 1. I asked if they had cheese... More

Not great for food, someone speak to the chef!! Garlic bread burnt...ugh! Beef burgers were hard and over cooked! The Lamb shank was supposed to be "slow cooked" but wasn't even properly cooked nor edible!! Staff were nice but only offered an apology.....Shame!

We went on a Thursday and we're surprised at how many people were there for a meal. The menu has some great choices from liver & bacon (just like Mum used to make)to crab. Something for everyone I would think. Fast & friendly service, piping hot food and plenty of it. Great for families with small children as there is... More
