My wife, our daughter and I dined here early on New Year’s Eve. We were received in a very friendly manner by the proprietor and the service and quality of food were both first class. We would recommend going for the £21.95 set menu of cold and hot mese followed by a choice of main course, dessert and coffee which provides a wide range of dishes all of which are very tasty - but make sure that you are fairly hungry before you make this choice as the quantities are pretty substabntial.

I discovered this restaurant about two years ago and try to get there at least once a month. My husband is a Head Chef and is very particular about where he eats. We do regularly check EHO hygiene ratings and they have the maximum 5 stars. The food is always fresh, flavoursome and delicious. We always get a personalised excellent service, even when they are always busy. We do often asked for adjustments which are always accommodated (usually being naughty and getting their yummy chips instead of rice).
They have a wide range of traditional Turkish meals but we have our favourites. My husband always gets the mixed grill and I always have the Imam Bayildi (stuffed aubergine). They have great vegetarian and vegan options available.
They do bring out complimentary fruit at the end of the meal but we rarely have it as the mains portion sizes are a struggle for me to get through anyway. I try my best as it is too tasty to waste any!

The owner of Ozgur restaurant and his staff are to be congratulated on offering a first class take away home delivery service during the current emergency restaurant closure.Food still tastes as good as ever.
All hospitality businesses are there to be supported as much as possible during the current situation.

Poor quality food, presentation very basic. Food was tasteless and unappetising. More importantly, dirty napkins were left in an open plastic tub by the bar and food was brought out past them. The toilets were dirty and untidy and worn. I didn't want to pull the corded light switch as it was black with grime. Hygiene was not a priority in the areas that you didn't readily see!

We visited the Restaurant on a Eat Out to Help Out day. The portion sizes were ridiculous, my daughter had halloumi, 3 slices (menu price £4.95) and my son had 3 of the smallest chicken wings I have ever seen (menu price £4.95). The mixed grill as a main course was two pieces of meat and the smallest lamb chop I've ever seen. My son was hungry when we left and visited McDonalds for a proper adult meal. Our bill after the Eat Out discount was £48 but would normally have been £88; we would have complained!! The staff were friendly and attentive but not good enough that we will be returning.

Went into this restaurant as we were a group of 11 so difficult to get booked elsewhere.
The staff were very welcoming and we were offered a special set menu at £25 per head. Seemed an easy option for a large group.
Most of the mixed cold starters were very appetising but throwing in liver without explaining what was there took a few of the group by surprise.
In addition, the main chicken/lamb combo was very underwhelming with dry and overcooked meat so sadly this wasnt the best experience. Certainly not £25 worth.
I am sure that this restuarnat does better but on the night it wasnt great

Encouraged by all the favourable reviews, I ordered a takeaway mixed grill from here. I arrived to collect my order at the time specified but had to wait an additional 10 minutes which I did not mind thinking that my food would be freshly cooked and piping hot. It certainly was not; judging by the temperature I highly doubt it had been freshly grilled.
The food was disappointing. The lamb chop was barely two bites of meat, the minced lamb kebab was about a quarter of the size of a burger and the chicken dry. All the meat was lacking in flavour and not at all succulent or juicy. Also no sauce or salad garnish included.

Ordered a large takeaway for 6 people, everything cooked perfectly, tasted amazing and would 100% order from here again. Only point for improvement is slightly bigger portion of rice would have been good for the mix grill. Otherwise, was very happy with the quality of food! Really tasty Turkish cuisine!

My family and I had such a lovely lunch today at this restaurant. I’ve literally never found more welcoming and friendly staff anywhere I’ve ever been and there is such a sense of care taken over every aspect of service. The food is all cooked and presented so beautifully. I’m vegetarian but walking by the kitchen door and smelling the meat grilling, it’s clearly all freshly cooked and my family all agree it is all the best quality food. I love the meze plates, and have had this type of food in so many places but Ozgur is yet to be beaten. The houmous is to die for! And the baklava at the end delicious. There is nothing bad to say about this restaurant and the fact it’s been open in tenterden for so many years is testament to how much it’s loved.

It is apparent that most of the excellent reviews are submitted by die-hard regular customers. Our first visit will be our last. Entered the premises to find 6 very drunk elderly people who were being very boorish but fawned over by waiter as they were clearly on a mission to get as drunk as possible. This was brought to an abrupt end when one of the elderly ladies in the group had a serious choking fit and had to be tended to. Whacking her hard on the back was not the way to do it but, I guess when you are all so drunk, correct practice goes out the window.!
Anyway, my wife and I were generally ignored but when food did arrive it was very small portions and not great quality. Also, if there are two of us, clearly sharing dishes, why bring 3 bits of each?? 3 small falafels 3 small (cold) chicken wings. Come on, show some customer focus and put an extra one in! Poor food, overpriced, zero social distancing. There are much better eateries in Tenterden.

Left to my own devices, I decided to treat myself. Wasn't thinking twice about where to go. Özgür in Tenterden. A Turkish restaurant serving traditional and contemporary dishes.
Why Özgür? The food is wonderful. Whether you choose steak or kebab or fish, it's always outstanding. Özgür differentiate themselves from others with the quality and variety of dishes, but their service is also second to none. Even after years of having been out of the area, they recognise you, make you feel a truely valued customer, their hospitality having no boundaries.
The restaurant is run, making sure nothing is overlooked, while the atmosphere is relaxed. Well-trained staff who are treated with respect. Next time you're thinking 'take-away'(or when we can dine out again), think Özgür in Tenterden. Wonderful food.

I can’t praise these guys highly enough; service 10/10, the mixed grill was succulent, cooked to perfection and delicious. Great value as well.
The customer service is “above and beyond” I’d say it’s ‘seven stars *******’
E.g: We were unable to get a taxi at the end of the evening and they gave us a lift back to the hotel.... free of charge!

We spent the night in tenterden and chose to eat here as it was one of the only places we could get a table on a Sunday night that was high up on the review list!
The food was delicious and the service was great, with the chef even coming out to check we were enjoying the food.
It was very quiet, we were the only couple in there for a while until another joined us but we didn’t mind.
Our only feedback would be to sort the mosquitos out. No one else seems to have mentioned them in their reviews so maybe was just that night but we had to move tables a few times to avoid being bitten during our meal. The waiter apologised and I think he was embarrassed, he kept saying he cleaned every night which we didn’t doubt. Just unfortunate they were swarming the restaurant. An easy fix I’m sure and not something I would not return because of. I would simply advise if it is a common problem to try and sort.
Food was yummy and service was great!

We went on a Friday night when it was busy but not packed. The food was all delicious: very fresh, beautifully cooked and also very generous portions. The sea bass and the swordfish were excellent. We also had some very good Turkish wine, which was not on the wine list, at an incredibly reasonable £20 per bottle.
The atmosphere was very good: it felt like a family restaurant with guests chatting to complete strangers at other tables. I had been here before and had forgotten just how great it was: We will certainly be back again.

Four of us were staying in the area and on our first night found the Ozgur Restaurant. What a great place and we were sorry not to get back there to enjoy the lovely food and friendly welcome.
The menu is extensive and very reasonably priced and I have to say that over our nine day stay in Kent this was the best restaurant we found. Only wish they were nearer to where we live. We will definitely visit again when next in Tenterden, which is the most gorgeous village.
