A real mixed bag! Drinks outside in the sunshine - really lovely. They pour a good pint. The service was interesting - a group of very pleasant, well meaning people, with either lack of training or too busy to be effective. Items ordered and not arriving, asking a number of times to pay the bill, etc. On to the food.... More

Staying at a local hotel, my colleague had advised me to eat here. On entering, we were first impressed with the cosy character and beers available. I pounced on the Scottish "Ossian" that was on draft. The menu has a French aspect to it, although my husband opted for the rump steak (Thursday is steak special night). I love "Tartiflette"... We visited for an evening meal and for lunch during our recent stay in Austwick and were pleased with the food quality and friendliness of the staff. A nice relaxing village pub

We had heard that it was recommended to book, but we only rang at 5pm and got a 7pm table with no problems. We arrived early and had a couple of drinks in the bar. It was a friendly atmosphere and the local beer was good. I chose the raclette, my husband chose the steak and we decided on the... More

Me and 2 mates came here last weekend for a meal straight after walking up Ingleborough. Absolutely delicious, good quality food and a lovely raspberry beer!! We liked it so much we booked a table for Sunday lunch too! That was stunning and we couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were! Especially as we had eaten at a real rip... More

We booked a table for 7.30 on a Wednesday evening the restaurant has a French Food Night. Arriving at about 7.15 we informed the lady behind the bar of our booking which she confirmed. We had a drink at the bar and waited for the staff to present us with menus. The bar was getting busy, obviously a popular evening,... More

French chefs here are cooking some fine pub grub. The beef bourgignon was fine and the roasted camenbert delicious. I liked it so much that I returned for lunch the next day and chose it again! Friendly staff and a good choice of hand-pulled ales, including a wonderfully light raspberry beer. Beer garden too.....

Overall I was a little disappointed. I had read such good reviews and the mains were very average. The burgers had lots of fatty lumps in which put my husband off and my choice was a little bland. Have eaten at better places - maybe this was just an off day. Staff extremely friendly though.
