During our recent visit to Alnwick we came across this unique little tearoom . We headed downstairs to a room where you felt you'd took a step back in time. We chose coffee and home-made cake which was delicious. The menu was quite extensive for...More

Good food, great service, and a warm welcoming atmosphere. There is a shop with some hard to find food items. We had a breakfast with great coffee, and went back for a lunch snack the next day and the service was just as good.

Food was good and portions generous but the service rather brusque. Clearly this establishment is not short of trade but that is probably due in part to the compact nature of the place. We'd been put off on several previous occasions because it is unfortunately...More

Description
Grannies Tea room and Delicatessen was established around 1984, then the tearoom only held a couple of tables placed within the shop. It was only later, in 1989, that the intimate downstairs tea room was developed within the basement where the old fashioned coal chutes, old style steps, fireplace and flagstone flooring can still be seen. Grannies is a strong advocate for the local food movement in Alnwick, and offers a wide range of local produce within the deli, shop and tea room.
