Decided on lunch out and ended up here. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The place had a lovely atmosphere with plenty of character, (log fire in the winter!). The food was enjoyable, with plenty of choice, well cooked, generous portions and nicely presented. Prices were very reasonable, will definitely be going again.

Well worth the effort to find this traditional pub. Great menu with some specials always available. Very friendly staff and very accommodating. Would defiantly go back.

The quality of the food is good. I had the goat cheese starter. The cheese could ha tier and the balsamic dressing (1980's style) was a little over the top but it was pleasant enough. The rack of lamb was cooked as asked and exceptionally good quality. However it was supposed to have been served with crispy potatoes. Not one... More

I have a dairy intolerance problem . The help to make my meal the same as our friends was superb. A sauce was made with lactose free milk . Normally I only get sauceless foods everywhere I go! The quality of the food was all excellent. Shall return often!

Just had what I must say was the Worst Carvery That I have ever had. Potatoes were black and burnt, Yorkshire puds were also black, The little amount of Meat that was offered was tough as old boots and all the veg was under cooked. Then too top it all off, after he had just served me mine, the Chef... More

Two of us dropped by for dinner on a Friday evening mid January. This roomy pub is a little off the beaten track but well worth visiting. The new publicans took over 6 months ago and are friendly and hard working. The specials board looked interesting. It was steak night, 2 10oz steaks and a bottle of wine for £35,... More

We hadn't visited here for a long time as the previous owners were very poor at service. The new owners were an improvement but although the place was fairly empty I wondered how they would perform if full. The food was a good quality and the usual pub grub.

First visit here under the new owners. Nice menu and the special two or three course one had some good choices and was very good value. Warm welcome and excellent service. Lovely faggot from a local butcher with proper mash and fresh veg. Friend had lamb's liver which he said was extremely tasty. We all liked it a lot, but... More

Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad that you enjoyed your first visit with us, as I may have explained we only use two local butchers and this means we get really good quality products. Hopefully this means we will see you again to find some other local products to try out :) In terms of the log... More

The staff and the food are excellent. They also serve good beers and ciders, know all about them and were happy to let us taste them first. Our friends had the two steak and wine deal and were very happy. They pointed out that the chef had indeed supplied it rare, as requested. Apparently this is rarely (!) the case.... More

Thank you for your lovely review! I'm glad you had a good time, we are very proud of our kitchen team and Sean our head chef always appreciates a good steak. In terms of our pies, we do offer a shortcrust option, unfortunately we must have ran out on the night you came as we make them all in house,... More
