This s a delight and a mix between a restaurant and tea rooms. Generally from what we noticed the restaurant is inside with the tea room outside in the back garden. It was originally a gatehouse to the estate and full g character. In the garden there is water feature, lovely plans and lovely garden furniture. The highlight was the... More

The Ramblers Retreat is a special place. The gardens are full of wild birds and its a super place to relax with a cuppa or snack and see how many varieties of birds you can identify and listen to the peaceful sound of running water. There is a cosy restaurant and well cooked local food available. A great place for... More

After a heavy night session, decided to partake in some Dimmingsdale rambling to blow away the cobwebs. Being the clever sausage that I am I decided to go rogue and ignore the maps. Unfortunately my internal compass is very poor which resulted in a half hour detour up a barren hill and concluding with a desperate scramble under some barbed... More

People bring served at the outside window with no waiting or very little waiting time, we had to sit on two separate tables. No space between other diners far... More

We pooped into the Ramblers for an impromptu lunch and it was lovely, A really nice woodland location, great food (I had the home made tomato soup) and excellent service. It got very busy though so would recommend booking at weekends and peak times, school holidays etc.

Had a very unpleasant experience there today. I walked 1.5 hrs to get to the Ramblers Retreat as I had checked their opening hours and it was showing on their website as 'Open Today'. I had planned to have lunch there with my dog, there was a sign outside sadly saying that due to a family funeral they were closed... More

Well worth a visit. The food was excellent. All the staff were very friendly. A lovely place to take the family. The gardens are very nice and when the weather is good you can sit outside to eat your meal.

As always the food at Ramblers Retreat was lovely and the setting is fabulous. A lovely warm sunny day so we were outside in the gardens. The area is very special to us. We have been going there for over 20 years and it only ever improves. Long may they continue.
