Meal: The Red Lion truly is a little gem... this was the first time my wife and I visited and we can't recommend it highly enough! Atmosphere: This place had the right kid of buzz you'd expect Service: Polite, friendly and professional... well done!

We came here Monday 5th December and I must say the food it brilliant. We came for my friends birthday and we travelled from derby which was a treck but very much worth it. They do chicken Mondays so the chickens half price, and it's very well know for its chicken I didn't know what to think to when I... More

My partner had booked another pub months before we discovered The red Lion for my 50th birthday lunch. Sadly the other pub cancelled on us 3 weeks before my big day. In stepped the Red Lion, they are always busy on a Sunday but managed with a lot of juggling to fit in 14 adults and 4 kids at 2.30... More

Was expecting a bit more. We visited after reading some reviews (rated 4th) on trip advisor. The whole experience was just ...well, average; choice, service, price, atmosphere. Nothing major wrong, we were just expecting more. We do not go out for Sunday lunch very often (we frequently eat out for dinner though) after this experience it made me feel that... More

It's a nice pub and the food is good. we ended up sitting next to the bar which was noisy as the pub was full. This meant that it had a buzz but also meant sitting talking was sometimes hard as we had to wait for things like the coffee machine to be switched off. Overall ok. The food was... More

A half way meeting point for my family (Shropshire and Notts) We had never been before but had booked from comments on line. A lovely Sunday lunch Hot and served with a smile. A good choice of meats/fish and vegetarian, Vegetables not your usual run of the mill. A busy place - people coming and going all the time but... More

Our friends suggested trying a pub they had been recommended. So we booked a table. We were a little late as we took a wrong turn in the dark, and it's down some country lanes, But what a find..fully booked restaurant is always good too see. The staff were very attentive without being over bearing. The food was much more... More

I reviewed The Red Lion two years ago, just after the new folks had taken ownership and figured it's time for an update. The landlady from two years ago, Emma, has shown true grit indeed, as she is still steering the ship. Her side kick Kay, and head chef Boner are also the original members of the team. The continuity... More

Called today for lunch with family we did not book but that was not a problem. Staff friendly and the pud was nice and cosy as they had the log burner lit. The food was really good I ordered the rotisserie chicken and I asked for skinny fries and corn on the cob it came with a huge portion of... More
