Visited on Saturday 3rd Sept with three others. The service was average, they didn't have my reservation as they did not write it down, however still had a table available, so no big deal, the ordering was rather haphazard, but the meals came out in reasonable time. The main issue was that we all had the runs the next day,... More

Got a take away from here one Saturday evening. Smelt lovely. When we got home, dished it up to fine a huge amount of oil had tipped out in the bottom of the bag (and I mean huge). Not joking, it was a pool of oil !! The food tasted okish, tender but something just not right, mine had an... More

We went on Friday evening, the decor is dated and dull. The menu has no description of the dishes, so we where not sure what we were ordering. My starter was supposed to be a pastie type thing but I got slop on top of a chappati. The main was just as bad, they advertise lobster dishes but serve prawns!!!... More

Visited this restaurant with friends, my immediate impression as I walked in was that the interior was pretty basic, certainly wouldn't regard it as cosy or intimate. We went on a Thursday evening which was Banquet night, where you could choose six items from the menu (1 poppadom, a starter, a main, a side, pilau rice and a naan between... More

The banquet night is absolutely great value for money. There portion sizes are quite big, after the starter I'm already full. They have great starters and currys. They also do the best naans in the area.

We have eaten at the Shomraat (or shommy boy as my family knows it) for years and it never disappoints. Yes their curry's are a little hotter than most but as long as you know that it's not a problem. The staff are always helpful and very attentive. I took the family (ages 3 - 82) for banquet night last... More

Thought we would give the Shomraat a try as we have lived in the area for years and generally only visit two Indian restaurants which are always very good. For starters we had some Onion Bhajis and a Kabli Bhaji, which was made of chick peas and spices, it was something a bit different, and both these appetisers where quite... More

We've been coming to the Shomratt for years- certainly the best Indian for miles. Food is always excellent (take away or sit in) and the staff so very friendly. Thumbs up.

No the best Indian in the area and not the worst. The price reflects the quality. Some times the meat seems to be of a slightly lower quality or maybe just me being fussy.
