Really nice pub in the centre of the village. Food nice tho only serve on peak hours and days. The pub garden is lovely, relaxing with lots of space and even a small pitch and putt. The pub is also dog friendly. Really nice here recommended.

We went back as the food was sensational in March. The food this time surpassed our first visit and is without doubt the best pub food in the area - and I have lived here for 40+ years. I've known the Windmill for 20+ years and I love what you have done with the place. It is fresh, clean and... More

Very interesting surroundings. Loads of parking and lovely old mill building. Friendly welcome and efficient service. Wide choice on the menu. Sea bass was superb. Heartily recommend it. Mid week was reasonably busy so worth booking if you are a large party.

Dear NJTLEEDS Thank you for your review but you have the wrong Windmill as we have no mill buildings and at this time do not serve food mid week. So glad out enjoyed your sea bass More

I come there every now and then, privately or with a bigger group (prebooked). This is a family-run business, you do get the homely feel. Great selection to drink, delicious meals (I will never forget the amazing home-made pate). Great atmosphere, and would there be a party for families, there's a special kids' room (with sleeping bags if the party... More

Dear Cepal67 Thank you for your honest opinion.... we try to create an atmosphere where customers feel at home, rather than just in a pub. We play music through our speakers but as you say we have a blue tooth box, purchased for the pub quiz and private parties in The Barn. Bar customers saw it and decided it was... More

Popped in on the off chance with a few friends and decided to go for one of the vegetarian food options. Usually vegetarian food is not very appealing, however here they had really made an effort and I later found out the owner is a Vegetarian, so she gets it. The veggie sausages + mash + oodles of rich gravy... More

Dear Simonlala Thank you for taking the time to review our pub. All feed back is important but especially so when there are specific comments which we can act upon As you say i am a vegetarian and so try to offer a selection for vegetarians, sometimes non vegetarians decide to try the vegetarian option, which is great. What a pleasant find. Popped in for a Sunday roast - yummy, best gravy I've had in years. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. There was even plenty of choice for vegetarians. A little of the beaten path but worth going. Didn't have time for desert which looked like it was a real shame. The place seems to be... More

Great place. Go there if you like pubs. Went here for my dad's 80th do. Really god, honest place with down to earth service and atmosphere. If you want pseudo-sophisicated swank, then go to Bill's or some other faceless chain of paff - for twice tyne cost. I feel like a like the world won't listen. Who cares, we all... More

Dear Dee B Thank you for your kind words... we are indeed just that, a village pub who takes pride in delivering good service and great atmosphere, a welcome similar to a visitor in our home. What a great evening. So basically it was £15 for 6 different gins plus tonic if needed and nibbles. It was a very relaxed evening, each gin came with a little background with it, explained by the landlady. Nothing to heavy which was great. On our evening the gins were all either English or Scottish, I believe the theme is... More

Great Sunday roast for myself and husband and even our dog Wicket had a bowl of roast dinner. Great service, home cooked food, best roasties I've ever had in a pub. Amazing Jude ice cream for desert. Will definitely be going back again and Wicket has told all his doggy friends about his fantastic roast dinner!

Just a lovely ambience, so comfy and relaxed, with friendly staff. I cycled past one day and thought "I must visit" - so I took my wife there Sunday lunchtime and she loved it too.
