No problem with staff, courteous and attentive. Prawn and lobster very nicely presented but very small portions. My friend had salmon salad but the salmon was very dry. Myself and other friends had supposedly hot meals that were just warm. The waitress held the plates with a cloth but needn't have bothered as the plates were cold. The tables are... More

Interestingly the negative reviews for this establishment are on par with the positive ones. Surely that in itself should be a concern for the whole team.A family get together. Both couples travelled thirty miles to have a very poor lunch. On arrival took a few minutes at the greeting desk to be taken to the table. ok, lovely surroundings with... More

We booked 18 people in at the Dun Cow for a staff party yesterday evening (Saturday) The admin side of the booking was poor with bad communication, however on the night the staff did a really good job. There was a good atmosphere as the pub was heaving with every table full, the food was good and the waitress's were... More

Met up with a friend on my way home from a training event, therefore wasn't drinking, but they served great coffee and hot chocolate. The venue is made up of several rooms giving diners ample choice to choose between formal dining or near the bar where theres an open fire. I was fortunate to get a seat as by 5.30... More

Went in for a pint but stayed for a meal. Broad bean and asparagus risotto starter was tasty, although more beans and less peas would be better. Beef burger was great - a good meaty burger with cheese and a rasher of sweet cured bacon (more like a slice of gammon).

The staff were run off their feet, but managed to keep a smile. The quality of food was reasonable except a rather bland cabbage/pea mix and my yorkshire pudding was rock solid such that I couldn't cut through it. The gravy boat could in fact be an egg cup it was so small, however, when I asked for some more... More

I have eaten here a few times and the food is good. Always busy (a good sign) in the evenings. Breakfast is very traditional and OK. However my room was above the bar and located at the front of the hotel which is situated on a major cross road junction with traffic lights. As this is an old coaching house... More

Just go back from the Dun Cow after having a Lamb Roast. Cost c £13 each. Although the meet was reasonable, the portion was radicals. Three very small slivers, honest, if you folded a new five pond note in half, it would be about the same size and thickness of the meet. Served with shrivelled up and cold pea mix,... More
