My pub of choice when visiting rugby. Lots of great beers in a haphazardly designed interior. Lovely.

I don’t often write reviews at the lower end of the scale in terms of scoring, but, after some careful consideration think it’s appropriate. The Merchants is a good pub, but could be so much more. There are plenty of bottled beer menus scattered around...More
Lucky to have this pub as a local. Always delivered consistently good food and drink. Relaxed atmosphere. Great nights spent here for various events, including beer festivals, gin festivals, early morning rugby with high quality breakfast, Sunday dinners tasty, homemade and large portions. Went to...More
Known for it's real ales, ciders & great atmosphere (can highly recommend as a drinking pub), I've only eaten here twice & doubt I'll risk it again. The first time I had fish & chips that looked over cooked (both the fish batter & chips...More
Hi Chris I'm sad to hear of your experience at The Merchants. Our food service is an important part of the pub so this is a major concern we take seriously. I have looked into the case of the dark batter on your fish &...More
It's a large pub, sometimes has rugby on the big screen, lots of different people including the sort of people we like to hang out with. A nice place to go with decent people in it
Never disappoints, very good selection of beers, staff friendly & knowledgeable.. wish all pubs were this good ! :-)

The Merchants', as the locals call it, is a fine old pub with an excellent selection of real ales on tap from the cellar, and a good range of lagers and stout. The food at lunch is good pub food, reasonably priced, the service is...More
A large pub full of character in the centre of Rugby. Several seating areas, some primarily for meals (which I didn't have). Fine and unusual choice of real ales. TV screens showing rugby (what else?). Popular, with good service. Remarkable display of old brewery signs.
