Gorgeous grub and impeccable service in elegant surroundings. Philippe is a true gentleman who oversees this gem of a restaurant, with subtle and cutting humour but always unfailingly polite and charming. The high standard of welcome and service is echoed by the extremely good food -we had supper here last Friday during the Petworth Literary Festival Week and our food was incredible. If it is still on the menu, please please try the cauliflower velouté which was as close to culinary heaven that I have ever been.

Upmarket venue in the centre of Petworth with well laid out tables and bustling bar area. Quite old fashioned in one way together with maitre d' supervising and pleasant knowledgeable staff. Great choice of drinks and wine, the food menu is as the website plus a few specials so you know in advance what to expect. All our dishes were well cooked and nicely presented, both fish and meat choices were enjoyed as were the desserts, although not a long list. On the pricey side so really for a special occasion for us mere mortals and lost a point as my pet hate the dreaded "discretionary" service charge at 12.5% rather than 10%, the latter is I feel more justified.

From ghe moment you step into the restaurant you know this is going to be so much more than just any lunch. Phillips welcomed us and Anna showed us to our table, took our coats, gave us our menus and said we could take our time whichbwe duly did. Anna recommended the Venison Haunch steakbanc the Pork Steak which we ordered OMG Anna was absolutely right both meats were cooked beautifully and to perfection the venison melted in our mouth and the pork was just as nice. As it was lunch and the portions generous we did not have the pudding but promised ourselves we would next time we came which wouldn't be long. Put simply the food was delicious service outstanding making it the best dining experience we have had for a long time and possibly even ever,Thank You

We are very lucky to have Anna with us, she is a very efficient gem, very rare this days, and we are not surprised that you liked Anna's recommendations.
Aaron, our Tremendous Head Chef is responsible for the original and delicious flavour combinations that make our menu so unique. As a Team, we all work very hard to ensure our guests have a lovely time and it is cheering to read that we have been successful. It makes us smile even more.

We remembered enjoying this restaurant a few years ago and chose it to celebrate our anniversary.
On arrival the place seemed very quiet (Thurs) and lacking energy. There was one man in charge of most things (checking in, drinks order, ordering, all tables) and a few inexperienced youngsters.
The food was average at best and the service was slow and disorganized (drinks came out separately, had to ask for bread, my terrine didn't come with any, my wife's velouté was luke warm and her bavette steak was undercooked). My rib-eye was nice.
The setting is nice but they could do with a bit of training and a more welcoming attitude.

Came here for my birthday meal with family.
Starter of Tuna carpaccio was good although absolutely swimming in soy sauce. Both my bro in law and I weren’t overly impressed and heard the table next to us also complain for the same reasons.
The Main course of “Jamaican jerk” pork belly was so unbelievably bland even Co-Op make a better rendition of Jamaican food from their ready meal range. Honestly, I was soooooo disappointed. This was so unbelievably vanilla even Madagascar didn’t want their pods associated with the dish.
In summary it was sooooo underseasoned and had zero flavour. On a positive note the pork was tender but with so much soggy unrendered fat where I was served the end cut, which was smaller and didn’t have the same structure or rendering as both my parents’ dishes. I can’t believe the chef thought it was acceptable to serve this!
Zero smoke on the supposedly “smoked” sweet potato… maybe the kitchen staff breathe over it with their fruity Elf Bars.
When asked if everything was ok, we let the waitress know I wasn’t enjoying the main and it was bland and she just responded “oh” shrugged and walked off, didn’t ask if I wanted anything else, or if there was anything she could do, or seem interested in finding out more information on what the issue was.
Based on the incredibly disappointing first two courses I didn’t bother taking a risk with the desserts.
At the end of the meal the manager took the pork belly off the bill, which is something I guess.
The main positives to takeaway is it is a lovely decor and the restaurant has a great feel to it. The staff were somewhat attentive but their reaction to our complaint to the food was poor and should be better.
Not a clue how this managed to get included in the Michelin guide.
We won’t be returning.

Came in for an evening drink - on Saturday night, visiting my sister in law who lives in Petworth town centre - after asking if we could please come in for a drink at the bar we were told abruptly they do not serve cocktails ... we werent even there to have a cocktail? We straight away were made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome.
When we questioned the closing time (assuming the older male waiter was annoyed we were there past closing time? Which we werent?) we were again rudely spoken to and told the bar closes when everyone leaves....
It was a really uncomfortable exchange and I'd urge people not to waste time and money for such appalingly rude service. He may as well have just told us to get out as soon as we arrived...

I have since had an opportunity to debrief on the details of your feedback with the Restaurant manager who was in fact the person that dealt with you at the time. He assures me that he did not mention about serving cocktails in particular but just advised that due to our barman not being in that evening unexpectedly, he couldn't offer any special cocktails if requested. Any other drinks would be served as usual.
I am sorry if this communication came across in an inappropriate manner as this was definitely not intended. I can assure you that we at E street Bar and Grill are known for our high standards of customer service and what you faced on this occasion was a departure from these usual standards. Our regular and repeat customers can attest to this fact.

A bit disappointing. My husband chose this for our wedding anniversary. I really like sea food so I was keen to have the sea food platter. Sadly after I chose the dressed crab, I was then told there wasn't any... so I chose Atlantic prawns, they were tiny and clearly just de frosted. I then chose the roasted cod. The vegetables were barely tepid, which was probably due to the plate being cold. My husbands veg were the same. In fact the only really hot food was the chips... having hot plates is such a small thing and makes a difference.

It’s recommended in the Michelin guide but mire work needed to get a Michelin Star!! Below are my critics :
Menu isn’t complicated but waiters lack knowledge of the meals they have on the menu.
Facilities are great, verranda is airy and has a good feel. Please clean off dust on the hanging lamp balls.
Cocktails and meals are great. Love them all. Steaks come with its own sauce and must say there is very little sauce, not sufficient to dip in all the meat on the plate.
Deserts are outstanding.
So all in all please have waiters (both of them) learn a little more about the dishes and ingredients so that they help clients make a choice especially when they’re are undecided.
All in all pricey and I think the above is manageable very quickly quickly.

We used to eat here when we lived in Petworth and it was always reasonably good. We revisited a couple of weeks ago with friends and were really disappointed. Three of us ordered the Wagu steak ( £40 a pop) and honestly, I am not exaggerating….. it was like chewing an old shoe! I left mine, mentioned it to the waitress who just frowned. When we got the bill, I mentioned it again and he took my steak off the bill. I think our friends were too embarrassed to complain. The starters and desserts were ok but I wouldn’t rush back after the last visit.

Please accept our sincere apologies for falling short of expectation with your recent meal at Estreet Bar and Grill. This certainly isn't the experience we expect our valued diner to take away with them, particularly with such a popular dish.
We do usually serve a ribeye cut on our menu, but our meat supplier could not get that cut any-longer and that week we changed to picanha, which is a rump steak. When we first had the delivery, earler that week, the chefs cooked a steak and it was fine.
it become clear when we took the plates back to the kitchen, and, Aaron, our chef did agree that this cut will never be served again in our restaurant.
Should you wish to dine again please contact me, and I shall personally handle your booking and ensure you are well-looked after during your next visit.

My partner and I were visiting Petworth, were told this restaurant was of good quality. We turned up at 5pm, waited at the door to be seated to where we were rudely greeted by a member of staff who shouted 'we don't serve food until 6pm!! ' across the room. He looked us up and down and told us to go elsewhere. At the same time, there were many people seated at the bar, to which we would've been happy to do and wait, if given the option. However, we are glad we did go elsewhere as the steaks at the Angel Inn a few minutes away was fantastic! Rude staff, unwelcoming and stuck up - do not recommend.

We had our dream wedding at E Street Bar & Grill. The Stag Room is absolutely perfect for a small intimate wedding. Jennifer, Nishant and Aaron and all the staff at E Street were so lovely and couldn't do enough for us in the run up to the big day and on the day. The day ran so smoothly, and we didn't have to worry and could focus on enjoying the day with friends and family. The food was just divine and we had a meeting with Aaron (head chef) to curate our perfect menu! We also stayed at Angel Inn, Ryde House and East House and the accommodation is just beautiful. I would highly recommend having your special day at E Street! We will be going back for our annual anniversaries to celebrate with some lovely lunch! Thank you to everyone in the team at E Street.

We had dinner on a Friday evening. Food was delicious, the menu is relatively small but dishes are seasonal with local ingredients and interesting combinations. Everything sounded good it was a hard choice to decide what to have. All the staff were helpful and attentive
The atmosphere is lively, warm and inviting. I love the bar area, cocktails were first class and the lovely bar man had an excellent knowledge if you want something a bit different.
Looking forward to our next visit

It is difficult at the moment to get the right food, as most of us experience when shopping some shelves are missing half of items that you came to buy. And it is the same with chef and his suppliers. His has to change the menu almost on a daily basis. But he is extremely creative and talented (those are customers comments) and he always produce amazing food.
Piers "the barman" will be delighted with your comments I am sure.
And as you mention it, we also look forward seeing you on your next vist.

A beautiful restaurant! We stumbled across the restaurant by chance and we were blown away by the food - a talented chef. We both raved about the food all the way home. We sat outside in the historical & pretty courtyard. It’s rare to eat food in the UK that is of this standard. We had three courses from the set menu. I don’t normally have a dessert but as the starter and main were so fabulous, I didn’t want to miss out. I’m a vegetarian and I was very spoilt. Highly recommend EStreet!

I visited E Street 6 months ago and it was great. Good food and very good service with a lot of staff. Great menu with an Italian theme.
We were very well looked after from the minute we walked in.
Visited again in September 23 and it was a different menu, less choice but the food was nice. The service was very slow and the whole place seems a lot more downmarket than on our first visit.
It did t seem like there were enough staff and certainly not in the kitchen.
I enjoyed my first visit but if this is what is like now it’s not worth the price and I wouldn’t return.
Not recommended.

I had lunch a few days ago with my son and we both agreed that our meal was very good. The staff were first class and the head chef even came out to ask us how our food was. Thanks to everyone at E. Street for a great lunch.
