The Hollist Arms has had its problems in the recent past, but under new and enthusiastic management by locals it is regaining its position as a comfortable Sussex pub with good food and ale. A recent visit was very pleasant, food more than acceptable, service competent and friendly. Oh, and despite what it says at the top, it's in Lodsworth,... More

Stopped here for an impromptu lunch. Only one other couple in the pub, the girl behind the bar was extremely friendly and accommodating. Both my sister and I opted for the ham, egg and chips. When it arrived, we were extremely surprised to see that the ham was processed and certainly not of the best quality. Not something I would... More

Me and nine family members went to the Hollist Arms for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely delicious. It was a lovely traditional pub in a little village. I chose roast chicken and it was tasty and melted in the mouth. Everything was prepared and cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and nothing was any trouble. I believe in... More

Sunday lunchtime and the pub was comfortably busy with families and dogs. The local beer was lovely, the staff friendly, but the food was not very exciting. Unfortunately the veggie roast was a hotpot of the very same veg as those accompanying the main course, topped with potatoes, with potatoes and a yorkshire pudding alongside. Huge portions, but all rather... More

We booked for lunch on Bank Holiday (last minut) We enjoyed first course delicious onion soup, after that downhill all the way.By 3.00p.m. Only one meal had arrived, the place had become inundated with unruly children and pheasant shooters we just had to leave unfed.Normally this is a delightful place to eat with friendly staff. The host graciously waived the bill for soup... Lovely village pub. Fab atmosphere with plenty of customers. Popped in for a drink but stayed for supper after seeing what came out of the kitchen. Superb food! There was a good mix of interesting things on the menu so will be back to try more. Great service in a friendly pub. Thank you!

Was staying in the area and thought we would give it a try one evening. Food was of a very high standard in a friendly pub environment. Fairly extensive menu so should be something for everyone.

We visited mid week lunchtime in October. Quiet in pub but not deserted. Cheerful welcome and no issue about our hiking boots. Drinks offered as we came into bar and order for food taken at table. Quick and efficient. I had a rare cold roast beef with bubble and squeak which was unusual and delicious. husband had half pounder burger... More

Been here twice for lunch after walks. Good range of beers and a wide menu. Food has been excellent - particularly the port cassoulet and salade nicoise. Nice garden. Also worth visiting the village shop next door.

I've been a few times to this pub over the last couple of years having had great food but yesterday took family for a meal. We were horribly disappointed. The food was just about OK but I paid £15 for a few bits of crispy duck on lettuce with a few bits of cucumber. Nothing else...not even a tomato! The... More

Description
The hollist arms is a beautiful old pub set in the heart of the village of Lodsworth. It is full of elegant charm and character with an eclectic mix of antique furniture and artefacts which enhance it's uniqueness. The Hollist has built a reputation for superb home cooked gastronomical delights by Serge and Sally, the chefs and owners, who have created a menu that excites and comforts. Serge's Mediterranean background, combined with his classic French training and years of gastronomical experience in France and England show in the quality of the food served. His philosophy is simple however. He prides himself on producing unpretentious food, generously portioned, sensibly priced and full of flavours. The Hollist has been nominated as one of the 25 best pubs in Sussex, with a special mention for outstanding roasts on Sundays (Sussex Life July 2013).The hollist also boasts an enviable wine list with wines sourced exclusively from small, independent vineyards; plus three fantastic, well kept real ales, one of which is a regularly changing guest ale. We look forward to meeting you.
