Stayed for 2 nights 7th/8th October. Lovely pub in the quaint village of Petworth. We stayed in the Oak room, nice big bed and roll top bath. Ate in the bar at night and had a fabulous meal and breakfast was also excellent. Only marked...down, by difficulty of parking. Small Cark park for 12 vehicles only. This should be prioritised for residents not customers.More

I feel as a resident of Petworth and try to support local businesses I have to write this review. On Friday night ( 1. 10 2021 ) Myself and two very dear friend went to the Angel for a couple of drinks. On entering the...door we were offered a menu. When I explained we only wanted a drink, I was asked if l wanted to drink it in the garden? This was 7_30 on a cold and windy night. It seems to me that this Pub wants to be a restaurant and can't be bothered with local drinkers !!!! I must also add the young people serving need some proper training.More

Monday lunchtime – recommended by a pub in the centre of the village which was not doing food on a Monday – strolled up the hill to find the Angel…. Warm welcome – very busy – luckily they had a table for 2 tucked away...– menus supplied – drinks ordered – we went for 2 starters – me the ham hock and chicken terrine with pickles and bread – my wife the charred pear and blue cheese salad with candied walnuts – both were just the job – tasty and interesting to eat…. Despite being busy the service was good – the bill with food and drink was reasonable with optional service charge included – would recommend – thank youMore

It is a long time since we visited The Angel Inn which has always one of our favourite places to visit for lunch not only for the food, which is excellent, but also for the lovely garden and the unfailingly friendly, cheerful and efficient staff....I am delighted to say that when we had lunch today it was every bit as good as in the past. We ate in the garden under blue skies and enjoyed the generous bread board followed by the fishcake with summer greens and served with a poached egg on top for my wife and the fish and chips for me. The fish was moist and delicious inside light, crispy batter and the chips were triple cooked and wonderful. We finished with very good double espressos. I had a glass of really good Picpoul de Pinet (the wine list is clearly constructed with care and knowledge. Highly recommended.More

We sat outside in the delightful courtyard garden and had a first class lunch, served by helpful and knowledgable staff. The grilled plaice was excellent, as was everything else we chose off the menu. Certainly a favourite place to return to over and over again....It has never disappointed!More

Very welcoming place. Highly attentive, friendly, courteous staff. They couldn’t have been nicer. The three of us had burgers. We’re all very fussy but all agreed they were excellent! The best French fries I’ve had for ages! The burgers were very superior - excellent toasted...bun, just the right amount of lettuce, bacon and caramelised onions, beef lean and very good (a tad over-cooked maybe). All in all, excellent!More

We dropped in during a day visit to Petworth and had the most enjoyable lunch. The place has a really nice and welcoming feel to it with a large outdoor seating area which is great during a nice and sunny day. We opted to sit...indoor (weather wasn't great...) and had a table right next to a lovely fireplace which looked as if it would be sued during winter. The food was great with one of the best fish and ship I have had for a while. I strongly recommend.More

We were looking forward to lunch on the Bank Holiday at what is an attractive venue in a beautiful village, with a lovely walled garden - although the weather was a little cloudy . We were offered either indoor or outdoor seating and elected to...dine outside. The restaurant was busy but not overly so, and we were shown to a table at the back of the garden under the pergola. This gave a lovely view back down the garden but proved to be a position where we were a little forgotten about during service. After a short wait we eventually ordered drinks and union their arrival ordered our meal - we had to ask about the specials as the waiter did not volunteer them despite be8ng on a portable blackboard leaning against an adjacent table. Having made our selection of courgette soup and grilled mackerel we waited 45 minutes for them to arrive. Not a problem really I guess - they were both very tasty when they did. Once these were cleared away our mains arrived almost immediately suggesting they had been waiting for a while. Sadly they mains did not match the starters in quality. I had the Aromatic Crispy Lamb and my wife the pulled pork burger. We were only left with one set of cutlery - and having managed to get the waiters attention requested another set - when this failed to arrive my wife decided to tackle the burger and fries with her hands while I used the knife and fork - eventually after 10 minutes I managed to get the attention of a waitress to request another set which arrived and were handed over without any apology. The food was ok although the my lamb was neither crispy (a little stringy if I’m honest) nor aromatic.it was tasty due to a pleasant dressing though. The pulled burger again was ok but sadly nothing special with fries that reminded us of MacDonalds. When finished we again sat for sometime waiting to be approached but the waiting staff - so decided to settle the bill when eventually the plates were collected. The bill did arrive quickly but once more no one came with the card reader to take payment so we ended up having to go inside to settle up. ( perhaps we were meant to ??) All in all a rather disappointing lunch experience. It’s hard not to recommend the venue which is lovely but we’re unlikely to repeat the visit sadly. There is a lot to be said for attentive service - but as mentioned, perhaps being seated at the back of the garden puts you out of range !More

There is a small carpark on the other side of the street opposite the main entrance but possibly easier to park in the main town carpark and walk up the hill to the pub (5 minutes).

As far as I know yes. Not compleatly sure. There are 2 very good coffee shops in Petworth. Coco, Tiffins and I think a place called Cherries does coffee as well.
