Surprisingly as the bistro opened at 5.30pm there was quite a crowd lining up that hadnt been seated in the dining area.. so obviously very popular.. usual pub fare, had a great steak, lovely fireplace, kids enjoyed it, great ambience

The dining is very brightly lit. About 10 tables. You order food and drink at the bar and get a number. Family place with what looked like locals. We got one vegetarian nachos to share and it was big enuff. Loads of vegetables in it which was fine but could have stuck with beans. It was fresh and light and... More

For a local pub they do great pub food! We've been here a few times now and the meals are always tasty, large and well priced. They can get busy at times but I take that as a good thing!! I love the nachos ( says light meal but I have it as a main - very large!), and the... More

This place is a kip. Sadly it has the appearance of neglect and barely seems to function. I believe it used to be a bit of a hub in Blackheath and dates back to the early 1800's which makes it even sadder that they can't make a go of it. Went there on Saturday to try and find some air... More

There were a number of places to choose from to eat in Blackheath. We chose this Hotel because pub food is usually good and inexpensive. This meal was inedible! Couldn't chew through the roast beef. Just aweful. Would not go to this Hotel again. Staff were not friendly either.

There weer so many choices of place to eat in Blackheath but we chose this Hotel because pub food is usually good and inexpensive. The food was inedible. Had roast beef - gristly, not cooked properly - couldn't chew it! Yuk! Wont' go there again.

As a local I have watched this pub have many ups and downs and at this current time it is a serious down. If you like to wait for everything this is the pub to be in. The young bar staff are lacking what it takes to work behind a bar, this is either a problem with management not training... More

What's happened to the Gardeners? We are new to the area and have eaten here many times over our six months as Blackheath residents. Went for dinner tonight with visiting family at 7.30pm, not a staff member in sight. Waiting at the bar for drinks, finally got to ask the young lady if they had any menus as they are... More

This pub has a great public bar where very one sits at the bar. In winter the open fire adds to the atmosphere.
