The seafood meals were enjoyable but could have been much better. With so much local caught seafood I expected more from the menu. Crayfish unbelievably expensive. This is a family restaurant and so we expected noise but we must have picked a bad night.

I bought a half dozen oysters that had been freshly shucked. They were amazing! I'm getting more tomorrow.

This place came highly recommended but we found it interesting that the reviews were mixed. Because of the reviews we decided not to have a sit down meal and instead opted for a Take away. I cannot understand why a $32 box would contain only...More

Thought the prices were quite steep and ended up just getting some chips. Didn't get a lot of value for money there either. Staff member wasn't particularly helpful or friendly - got the feeling we were tolerated and they just wanted our tourist dollars.

We weren't very impressed with the fish and chips we bought - I'm sure others may not have the same experience but we normally love our fish but this wasn't the case this time.

We enjoyed the friendly sevice of the staff here as well as a nice meal overlooking the activities going on in around the wharf area of Stanley

I chose the lobster and my partner chose Cape Grim steak. Both meals were delicious. The atmosphere a little sterile, newish decor. We were out for a sumptuous lunch but weren't offered desert or coffee. Staff may need additional training but food excellent.

Ordered fish and chips for 2 people cost $25 very expensive! Chips were good but medium is way too many for 2 people and ended up with 4 pieces of oily fish.

I had a booking for 24 people. 4 adults out of the group, including myself, who had steamed vegetables all made the same comments about the vegies which were served with a huge chunk of slightly undercooked boiled potato with no garnish whatsoever! Very bland!

We had been keen to visit this place after many trips to Stanley. It has a prominent location at the end of the road. Downstairs is a busy takeaway outlet. Up stairs is the dine in restaurant which has nice views over the bay. Service...More

Yeah it was unusual. Sorry I have taken so long to respond. I don't know that we would go back unless reviews became more consistent

Nothing from Brazil on the menu...ever. Brazil is well known for its unrestricted and unsustainable fisheries management. Two types of flattie are proudly offered on our restaurant menu...local, hook caught flat head and a... More

Hursey Seafoods, based in Stanley Tasmania, is a major catcher of the renown Southern Rock Lobster (crayfish). Patrons can purchase a range of seafoods; wholesale, takeaway or dine-in for lunch or tea. In 1974 James Snr and Valerie Hursey relocated from Dover (Sth East Tasmania) to Stanley (Nth West Tasmania). In 1987, to complement a growing company fishing fleet, a commercial factory/takaway/dine in premises was established as a memorium to James Snr and Valerie's son, Patrick, who was lost at sea attempting to rescue an adventurer, rowing across Bass Strait. In June 2015, the property was extensively renovated and now seats 100 diners, overlooking the bay and nestled under the Stanley Nut. Hursey Seafoods' fleet of nine vessels catches Southern Rock Lobster, Giant Crab, Stipey Trumpeter, Gummy Shark, flathead and other local reef fish. Lobster is retained live in sea tanks on premises, which ensures supply all year and provides consumers with the very best taste. Hursey Seafoods is open every day, apart from Christmas, for lunch and dinner. Takeaway open: 11.00 AM to 7.00 PM Sun - Thu, 11.00 PM to 7.30 PM Fri & Sat Restaurant open: 12.00 PM to 2.30 PM (seated by) & 5.30 PM to 8.00 PM (seated by)
