Found the last table on the terrace with a view of Bern.
It’s self service so you have to get your own food.
Rösti in different combinations are served, you also have other choices but they are famous for the rösti. We all had different röstis, and we all liked it Of course there was a stunning view over Bern.
Price was pretty ok, I mean everything is expensive in Switzerland.
They also have children high chairs, children menu as well.
Even though it felt touristic it was good.

The view is terrific, the prices the same as downtown Bern at Migros - and the food quality, too. We didn't have problem finding seats (on a late sunny March afternoon) in a simple but warm and friendly setting. Kids seem to enjoy it, too.

This is a buffet style restaurant. We came here around 930am for breakfast, make sure to get a table right away as 80% of the indoor tables were already reserved, which to me, seems rather silly as we were there for about an hour and a half and the reserved tables were still unoccupied when we left. Why not let people eat at these tables instead of reserving them for 2+ hours. Most of our time here was spent waiting for a table and in the end, ended up sitting on bar stalls. This would not be a problem if we didn't have our 14 month old daughter there, who in her high chair, obviously couldn't reach the table. There is seating on the balcony if you feel like sittig in the cold or if it was warmer.
Regarding the food, it is a buffet style restaurant and you pay for the weight of the food. The price was not bad actually. The food was okay, good enough a selection.

I just simply did not enjoy the food there. It has no taste and the service wasn't friendly. On top of that a friend of mine had no chance to eat on the terrace as he isn't vaccined eventhough the law does not require you to be. Do not visit this place if you like a friendly environment with good food

We are implementing the requirements of the Federal Council as well as the protection concept of Gastrosuisse. Therefore, our restaurants can now only be entered with a Covid 19 certificate. Based on your description, we assume that you were not visiting us. You are allowed to eat on the terrace of Restaurant Gurtners and on the mountain terrace of Tapis Rouge even without a certificate.
We are looking forward to convince you and to welcome you on the Gurten.

Unfriendly staff. Not helpful at all even though the prices are pretty high. Would not recommend it to nobody. Take a picnic if you go to Gurtenpark

It's the location. Tapus Rouge is the self service restaurant on Bern's 'Hausberg', the Gurten.
Fron the terrace there are beautiful views over the city, the Jura mountains and the Emmental. On a clear day you can see as far as Pilatus, the peak abive Luzern.
Food is a bit limited to Röschti but the quality is good and the variations are changing. There are also delicious cakes and an antipasti buffet. The Gurtem offers very good facilities for business workshops!

We just did the cafeteria food but it was well priced with a good quality. Coffee was great and pastries yummy! Toilets were free.

Ordered plain Roesti with vegetables; got an oily caked and burnt board of potatoes with dead-cooked ratatouille. Alternative option such as salad buffet was highly overpriced due to animal meats. Simply couldn't find any filling other meal. It is a self-service facility, spacious with nice design.

Went here for afternoon drinks and desserts which we had on the balcony with great views. We were really pleased by the quality of the food. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the balcony eating area was terrible. Although we were there for two hours, not once did we see tables being cleaned, etc.
This restaurant which is self-service is not to be confused with the fine-dining restaurant in the same building.

Regarding the balcony area, we are aware that this kind of floor is difficult to keep clean nevertheless the staff has been advised again to check the tables regularly and make sure to keep the area appealing.

The Rösti tasted like a premade one you buy from Coop or Migros. It's super greasy and absolutely disgusting if you know what a 'real' Rösti tastes like.
People with no taste (about 70% of the population) will love it, though.

Our Röstis are made freshly every day and served in a special cast iron pan. Nevertheless there is always room for improvement and I forwarded your comment to our "chief of the Röstis" .

The restaurant is nicely located at the top of a hill. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. One can see Bern from top. The surroundings of the place are nice for a walk. The food is good too. Overall, it's a must visit place when in Bern.

"What's in a name?" said Shakespeare...or something like that...on the top of the very attractive Mt Gurten, a little outside Bern, is what one imagines once was a marvellous old 'chalet' --now you will find masquerading in part under the grandiose title Tapis Rouge--which it aint!
In truth its an F&B operation run by the ubiquitous Migros supermarket chain! What more needs be said?
Charmless & immaculate--it is formulaic Swiss F&B done well, & given its parent, you get what you have come to expect from this giant of the retail scene here.
Apparently there's a more up-market operation downstairs to which I did not venture...for the money, my quite credible lunch (Price by WEIGHT!) with 1dl of vino rouge (4CHF) totalled 14.40CHF--water free! As in Switzerland so it should ALWAYS be!

As befits a Migros "leisure park" restaurant, the self-service Tapis Rouge offers a markedly up-market take on the standard supermarket cafeteria. There is a wider selection (monster bowls of coffee, a range of wines and beers, a grill (if you are there at the right time and it is not too crowded), all offering the Migros hallmark of serviceable quality and value for money. The staff are helpful, and the ambiance pleasant - the building is spacious, and the terrace (if the day is warm enough) offers fine views over the city and towards the north-west. On certain days, it can get very crowded, so should be avoided over hot weekend lunchtimes during the school holidays!

The restaurant is very well located, on the top of Gurten. The food is well cooked, but not a lot of dishes. They have cakes and drinks. The prices are not so high, affordable.
